How are 3rd part sellers like Stubhub allowed to buy tons of tickets from the original source and then jack up the prices? How is that legal? Tickets sell out so fast because of these companies correct?

I always thought that they have like big rooms full of computers and people and devices and then they wait in the online queue like everyone else and then buy it out, and because there's so many of them it makes such a big difference. I didn't think that they were allocated a set chunk of tickets to re-sell - if that's the case then that's so not cool and so unfair :omg:

And yeah things sell out fast because of them and then actual fans are left stranded and are put between a rock and a hard place, they can either miss out on attending the concert or they have to give into paying the increased prices (which can be extortionate :saladga:)

The original seller doesn't care as long as they got their money unfortunately. That's why no one is stopping them.

It's awkward though. The only way to stop third party sellers is to make tickets nontransferable which is also annoying. If an event sells out then, you have no hope of going.

Having dedicated third party sellers means the artist will get a better profit, even if they can't sell all of those tickets on since they've already been paid for. Everyone will flock to buy the tickets direct from the source and the others are already bought by third party sellers. Allowing the reselling of tickets also allows people who can't go to get some money back by selling their ticket on too.
