There are lists of celebrities that have had affairs with their partners, it would be completely unreasonable for people to see this story and generalise all gay couples. This is a 'bad image' for gay people in the same way Kristen Stewart cheating on Robert Patterson was a 'bad image' for straight people or Brad Pitt cheating on Jennifer Aniston or Bill Clinton cheating on Hillary. 

Stuff like this is occasionally going to come out about gay couples, if people are going to generalise all gay couples from this then that's their problem. Most people are not that stupid.
