Call me when they have a main LGBT character.  And not just a 5 second glimpse of one.

ParaNorman has a main character that is gay, but it's not revealed until the end; so I don't know if that counts lol

It's hard to say since his "reveal" is more played off as a joke

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

But in the context of the film and it's message about accepting people for they are, even if they are different, and the anti-bullying stance the film exudes; it would be hypocritical for the audience to empathize with Norman and the witch, but be disgusted or opposed by Mitch's sexuality.

So even if it comes off as a comedic moment, it still opens an important discussion, especially for the parents who saw the film with their kids.

Finally!

All we need is a little bit of representation so that the next generation grow up with gay people being a normal thing. Not some oddity that was never spoken about to stare at and treat like an alien species. We're just people too, and it's cool that we get to be in a few films here and there, just like we exist in real life.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I wanted her to be the Disney Kween of independence and #ForeverAlone who don't need no man/woman to slow her down on her path to world domination

As long as her story doesn't end up revolving around whoever she falls in love with or their relationship, I can live with it tho.

I just need dat #ForeverAlone kween too

Exactly. Not to sound like a feminist but what are we teaching our daughters if we bombard them with messages that they're delicate flowers that need to be "saved"? I can't stand when women pull the whole "damsel in distress" thing. I had a flat tire one time and I pulled over onto the side of the road, got out the spare tire and jack, and changed the tire myself. I got so many weird looks. Omg a self sufficient woman!!!!! What a travesty!!!! Somebody alert the media!!!!! 🙄. Sorry I'm a smart ass lol

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

exactly. I swear my daughters principal has some personal vendetta against lesbians because she expressed "concern" over the appropriate-ness of the book my daughter selected to do a book report on. Apparently the principal didn't like the fact that there were children's books that featured gay/lesbian parents. Ok that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. The thing that gets me is the horrors of the holocaust (which included gays. It wasn't just Jews.) are perfectly ok to be taught in school and yet my daughter doing a book report on a book that features LGBT families isn't ok. Yeah that makes perfect sense *eye roll*

That kind of judgmental behaviour makes me so angry. WE EXIST. Why is it so wrong to show that we exist? I'll never understand how so many people are so prejudiced. Exactly. They're allowed to teach children of such horrendous things, but can't show two people of the same gender being good parents to their child in a kids book.

Things are slowly changing, which is wonderful! But we have a long way to go!

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Monster Voices

That's awesome!

Also let's not forget The legend of Korra. There you have an animated children's series where the main character turned out to be bisexual.

Forever and Always!

She refuses to believe that my daughter is my biological child since apparently being a lesbian makes my uterus stop working lol. It's called a sperm donor asshole lol. Yeah I hope to adopt some kids in the future but being a lesbian doesn't mean I have to choose adoption lol. Not shading adoption at all. The scary thing is the principal has 3 kids. I swear there needs to be an application process to have children. Some people should NOT reproduce

YES. It's sad, because more and more these days I see either really closed minded people, or totally incompetent people, or just total assholes having children, and the intelligent, open minded, and kind and caring individuals are the ones that seem to stay away from having children :toofunny:  so basically if things go badly we could end up with more people being brought up in awful environments, with awful world views, and awful personalities.

But hey... freedom...
