President-elect Donald Trump said he is working on a replacement for the Affordable Care Act that would seek to provide "insurance for everybody," The Washington Post reported Sunday night.

Trump made the comments in a telephone interview late Saturday, The Post said. He gave no details of his replacement plan.

The Post reported that Trump also said he would force drug companies to negotiate directly with the government on prices of prescriptions covered under Medicare and Medicaid.

Trump's comments were made a day after the House began the formal process of repealing the national insurance program known widely as Obamacare but before Sunday's rallies across the country to energize opponents of the repeal.

I'm confused...are the Republicans suggesting a socialist health insurance replacement to the semi-socialist but somehow too socialist for 'Murica plan that just guarantees everyone's ability to get insurance? Like...are they suggesting a single payer system or something?

I'm tired and confused :saladga:

Either way, if Trump says something we can assume its a lie so it's an irrelevant question.

I mean I hate Trump but hopefully they can find something good. I'm looking forward to not being fined for not being able to afford insurance though :poot:

But what will that insurance look like though is the question :gum: So far, just like in the race, Trump is all promises and no receipts :smh:

It's also one thing to try to win a numbers game and another to have actual beneficial policies in place in the overall package. If this covers slightly less people, but less adequately across the board, is that still a win? Questions to think about it

I'm skeptical, but if its actually good, then when we can breath a sigh of relief. I just really doubt it will be in any sense "better" than Obamacare. No chance in hell its a single payer system either. There's just no practical way to let people keep what insurance they had before, have those insurances not discriminate (pre-existing conditions, birth control, etc.) expand insurance to millions more people while also providing safe guards according to pay bracket, and NOT have premiums and things of that nature rise without radically changing the approach  At least, if there is, its beyond my knowledge. And even that downside to the ACA was exacerbated in Red states. Then they blamed the ACA as if it was the cause of everything :gum:

I'm insured under my parents thanks to the ACA :lolly:

So once these slime balls get rid of it, I'll have to fend for myself with all my chronic issues and weak immune system so I'm pretty hyped for that :lolly:

Also, I'm in that golden zone of not being able to afford actual insurgence but not being poor enough for medicare. Not that it matters though 'cause medicare and other assistance programs are going to be slashed by these slime balls anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There basically going to revamp Obamacare and name it "The Donald Care Act"

Yep. They're probably just going to tweak a couple of small things, take complete credit for it, and then begin a campaign to convince everyone that this "new" plan is "the American way."
