Food stamps still need an overhaul though. They can be sold, and people use them for stuff they don't need, but want.

My mom says a lot of the country's money problems would solve themselves if stuff like energy drinks and stuff were removed from food stamps, and food stamps were essentially more like WIC.

There needs to be an overhaul to the system, but I wouldn't trust FOX news with the safety of a level 99 Noctis going through the area surrounding the hammerhead. They'd still find a way to f*uck up. Fox is just so untrustworthy in general.

I mean... This is the GOP's entire strategy; its rooted in obfuscation of facts, an occasional blatant lie, and slant rhetoric, this isn't surprising at all to me  

The GOP is all about trying to turn people against poor people and people of color for political reasons tbh; they know that minorities are growing in number and political power and as long as they can keep them partially disenfranchised, they can maintain power in the country.  There's been rhetoric like "They are lazy! Food stamps are government handouts and we shouldn't give them out! Look at how they abuse them!" for decades and its all based in bull **** (that they are widely abused) and just honestly a lack of compassion and crucial misunderstanding of how the world actually works ("they are lazy; if they worked hard, they could all lift themselves out of poverty!")

Well not really. My moms believe if food stamps were made to be like wic a lot more people would spend more out of pocket money on these things, and so it would in turn make a dent in the over trillion dollar debt we have.

So not really money issues, just the national debt. However, I'm unsure on how our economy really works, and my mom would'v been very happy to vote for mayor bloomberg so I'm thoroughly sure neither of us should be trusted with ideas.

I'd really ask you to reserve sassy gifs until you hear a full idea.

The food stamps system does need an overhaul, and that's where I leave it.

Sassy gifs are my prerogative if that's what I choose to do & the whole idea of food stamps needing to be overhauled is based on "wide spread abuse" of the system, and that is simply untrue & just political expediency +  demagoguery!  SMH

I'm not agreeing from the stupid FOX article.

I'm agreeing based upon the personal experience that my stupid ass sister had her food stamps taken away from her because she sold them.

I don't enjoy saying it, but while there is not widespread abuse, food stamps are abused to a certain degree, and honestly, the way food stamps are used are silly. the way how many food stamps you ge are silly.

I've honestly seen my best friend get f*ucked over by the food stamp system.

It needs to be overhauled. It is not aging well with time and as more Americans fall into the sweetspot where they can barely afford to pay the bills, but can't afford anything if an emergency occurs.

And I'm sorry if you have survived because of the food stamps system, or if anyone else you know has. but my family has always been one of those on the edge. Where we need to be careful with our money. I never got free lunch, we never got food stamps, but if the car needs tags or we had to get new tires? Screwed.

Now I completely agree with everything you just said.  I only get $10 in food stamps, which is just simply pathetic really...  But you are right about people abusing the system.  I have seen that myself as well.  I just know some people would like to abolish ALL food stamps, just because some people abuse them.  Or at least that's the excuse they give & I just simply don't agree with that.

I don't want to abolish the system. I just want to change it. Like I said, I believe it should work like WIC...

HOWEVER... I just realized WIC is a Tennessee and Virginia thing I think? So people may not know what I'm talking about.

Well that's not what I ment.

I meant WIC being restricted to certain items. Food stamps could be applied is a similar way. Though I imagine food stamps could be applied in a more broader area, though it could be still banned from buying certain things.

However, I've never had food stamps, and so I lack knowledge on the subject. As a middle class single white man, I'm pretty sure I'll never have the full needed knowledge on the subject.

I know, I have a friend on section 8 housing and she needs it. So I've seen what's it's like to need government help. And it scares me very much that the party power hates these kinds of programs. So many people could starve without food stamps. What type of society would we be if we let them starve? 

Ive met people who want these programs cut and they're terrible people and since my family is well off, they're shocked that I'm not with them politically. At the bowling alley some asshole said to me when I was promoting the democrats "not my problem", another that always talks to my dad said "you have 2 houses, what do u care". They're so gross and it's so gross they won.
