JustAnotherDay 8,402
What is, in your opinion, the perfect pop song? The pop song that is written and produced to perfection? The flaw free portrait of what pop music should be? In my opinion, these are three of the best pop songs of all time Into You by Ariana Grande is objectively a pop masterpiece, and easily one of, if not the best Max Martin produced song of all time. From the very start, the song is genius. The first line introduces the chorus to us, however it is one octave lower, to familiarize the chorus with us but also keeping us surprised. Then we get into the production, where Max Martin, Savan Kotecha, and Ilya Salmanzadeh recorded themselves singing "ha-ha-ha" and "ooh ooh ooh" and then pushed it through synthesizers to create a unique synth sound. And then, how they processed the synths in the verses to sounded muted, almost a if they were underwater, and then removed the processing in the chorus to create an explosive quality. And we can't ignore how Ariana kills the vocals, from whistle notes to low notes she sings it all with perfection. All these element come together to form a killer pop song to shout from the top of your lungs. Katy Perry is a controversial subject on Gagadaily, some users are fine with her and even love her while many others do not like her. But you can't deny, Teenage Dream is an excellent pop song. Teenage Dream is all about suspense, it does this by establishing an inconsistency in the chords. Always changing slightly to remove the familiarity a normal song has. And then of course, the production is to die for, it combines the signature buzzy synths and dimensional drums of the 80's with the 2010's brand of electropop that creates a song that feels familiar now but timeless at the same time. The lyrics are also excellent, they tell the tale of a summer romance full of love and lust, relatable to everyone. And while Katy is not known as a vocalist, she suits the song well, providing a pleasant tone throughout the whole song along with some excellent backing vocals. You may not like Katy, but she know how to make a pop song and this undeniably great. Honestly, who else but Lady Gaga could combine, techno-pop, country, and classic rock and still create an incredible song. From the get go, You and I established itself as off kilter. The intro starts off with a synth keyboard playing the melody, a piano and kickdrum are quickly brought into the mix, creating a mixture of techno-pop and country rock that makes sense even though it really shouldn't. As the song progresses the production only gets better. In the first chorus we are introduced to the drums, played by none other than Brian May of the legendary rock band Queen, and the guitar. We also get a taste of the "ooh ooh"s which will come into play later. In the second verse we also get to hear more guitar, which has some pretty incredible riffs. However, the bridge is truly where the song kicks it up another level. The instrumental solo shines, with pounding drums and screaming guitar, it calls back to the classic rock of the 80's. After the solo, she introduces the male backing vocals briefly, despite the fact that they are only featured in two lines they instantly create nostalgia and a feel good nature. At the end of the song, the instrumental builds into a giant wall of sound, but is suddenly stripped away. As Gaga sings the last line of the song, which is also the first, everything is stripped away but the piano, creating a sincere feeling as the song ends. Gaga also kills it in the vocal department. She begins the song soulful and somber, more reserved than she has been on previous hits, but quickly changes at the first chorus. The song changes to the type of stadium rock hit that needs to be screamed from the top of your lungs. She sings her face off until the last somber line where she returns to the soulful sound of the first line. And we can't forget about the lyrics. Completely self written, You and I tells the story of a woman returning to a past lover and the memories they had together. You and I is a killer relatable, and feel good pop song that shouldn't work, but still does. Sorry if I rambled a bit, I'm a bit of a nerd about these things, but what about you? What songs are the perfect pop songs to you? You don't have to go on as long as I did lol Spoiler Don't let this thread flop was NickARTPOP

I always thought it was intentional that she was paying homage to Queen, Not to mention she has Queen's Brian May playing guitar on it, I think it's sweat. It's also her favorite song on BTW.
