Gaga doesn't need hit singles anymore

I think that Gaga doesn't really need hit singles anymore in order to sustain a long career. At this point her fame, name, and talent alone can get her booked to big events and big acting roles. I mean, Gaga hasn't had a big hit single since Applause 3 years ago, and she is still on track to selling 1M copies of Joanne (very good for this times), she was scheduled for some of the biggest musical events this year, she will be part of a new season of American Crime Story, she will be the lead role in the movie A Star is Born, she will headline Rock in Rio Festival, and she is scheduled to perform on the Superbowl Half Time Show next year. At this point what more does she want? Plus the GP isn't really counting how many hit singles artists have. They however do take notice of Gaga whenever she shows her incredible talent wherever she performs. And they apparently also still check out her full length albums as Joanne is still selling well.

Relying on your previous hits wont last long, you know....

She is not relying on her previous hits. Albums count and Joanne is selling very well. Plus she has big acting roles coming up too.

I agree, mostly. She is a household name, and her albums will continue to sell regardless of whether or not she has hit singles. She's also establishing her acting career (for which she has already won a golden globe), which is another vehicle fpr her. She'll be fine without hits, but I'm sure she still has hits in her, so I don't think it matters.

Bradley

Frankly there are smaller celebrities out there (usually actors because they don't get as much exposure as musicians do) but they are still respected and valued in their respective industry so I'm sure Lady Gaga is quite safe and won't be forgotten too soon. You guys act like she's Robin Thicke or Azealia Banks or something, if Azealia Banks can stir up so much attention without actually being on the radio or promotional platforms,

what makes you guys worry about Gaga's career longevity when she is the performer of:

Her talents are too diverse and immerse to render her irrelevant, she's the star of American Horror Story and soon to be of American Crime Story. God damn it she's working with Ryan Murphy and Bradley Cooper, a four-time Oscar nominee and Bradley is considered one of the highest paid actors in the world with a net worth of $100 million and his movies NEVER flop.

Joanne sold 700,000 copies worldwide (we're talking about 2016 sales right now, so don't give me The Fame or Born This Way numbers because Anti didn't sell much either but is considered a highly successful album), and this is before the tour and Superbowl, not to mention only two singles have been produced, and Gaga has revealed her intention to release more singles from the album cause the music videos will be a series of story. Watch Joanne get nominated for Grammys in 2018.

I mean Britney hasn't produced a top 10 hit in so long, she's not even a regular actress. Is she still making music? Yes. Is she still performing? Yes (not a tour but still a performer) Not to mention Gaga doesn't lip-sync like her, Gaga is still a favourite of the Grammys, high-profile platforms like the Superbowl, Oscars love her.

Yes but a few new hits wouldn't hurt

This post isn't directly addressing your comment, I just want to get it off my chest.

Just because Million Reasons and Perfect Illusion didn't take off doesn't mean other songs won't down the line. Fans here are still expecting instant success because that's what is expected of Gaga, even though every single fan on this site knows that Gaga is not so lucky when it comes to charting. Songs like Diamond Heart (especially Diamond Heart), Joanne, Dancin' In Circles, John Wayne, and maybe even Angel Down are all single worthy and have potential to chart high. Joanne isn't over, especially when she will be promoting it at the SB while it's still a recently released album. IMO the Superbowl will be a restart button for Joanne. It will be way more publicized than her own album release was for Joanne (no shade intended).

I can imagine it's hard for Gaga to choose singles when she doesn't leave room for fillers, so obviously she's going to have plenty of misses. Eventually the stars will line up.

Delusional

Every artist needs a hit once a while to avoid being forgotten

Except Gaga is not forgotten because she is constantly on TV and the internet in one way or another.

Everyone needs new hits, otherwise you will be stuck as a star from the past. Don't be delusional here, nowadays for a musician it is important to have hits. Unless you're indie, of course :gaycat:
