It's not black or white though. I disagree with a lot of things that they have done and at times their approach and delivery, but I really appreciate them raising awareness towards animal rights and exposing the horrible things that are routinely done to animals.

But they've stigmatized animal rights in the worst way though imo. Now, when most people hear about animal welfare, they think of extremist red paint/blood attacks, etc. rather than the actual stance 90% of activists have. Not to mention the very unscientific opinions they have. It's very unrealistic to say that scientists should end all animal models in research. Like, that's not probable in the slightest. Then the lack of funding research projects to inevitably look for better alternatives than the current in vivo use is pretty disheartening. The disregard for common ecology practice to sustain endangered species, etc. it's all very messy from a scientific and professional standpoint.  I don't think I could ever say I support PETA's mechanism of action and role in animal welfare. Plus it's very minimal compared to other groups (WWF, Animal Rights Fund, etc.) that are taking a much more professional and effective approach.

Because you eat meat

Well I'm vegan so this doesn't apply to me :giggle:

instead of attacking him, they should target the company

In this case he's the one that keeps these companies going, while also promoting this cruel industry to his fanbase, which mostly consists of young, impressionable teenagers.

Idc

Why don't you care? I really want to know. How is it right to skin animals alive just for a "nice coat". I suggest you do some research on how animals are treated in fur farms.

But most people eat meat. Where's the difference? I wouldn't wear fur but I don't judge other people. I only judge him for looking tragic in it

Y'all keep saying this as if it's supposed to justify wearing fur. The majority of us who disapprove wearing fur don't eat meat.

I don't see threads about celebs eating meat. Or articles about it

I agree with most of what you've said. There are plenty of negatives, which are a big turnoff and have done harm to the cause, but I still believe that they've played a huge role in the shift towards anti-fur attitudes and enlightening people on many animal rights issues. I really appreciate that about them, but like you, I have problems with things they do as well. There are definitely better, smarter and more humane organizations like you've listed, but they're the most visible, vocal and have the biggest celebrity endorsements, which really has really helped in swaying the public's attitudes towards animal rights.

I mean I'm not going to disregard the work they've done for public support and education but from just the position of where I work (which is research) as well as knowing what kind of legislation they've pushed for and the extent that they've gone for said legislation. Idk it leaves a bad taste in my mouth

What? We are always criticizing her for wearing fur. But at least the bitch looks good. Killing an animal to look this ghetto should be a crime.

Wait. I remember when it was a big controversy at one time and she made some sly comment about if you paid enough attention to me and the designers as you do my image/looks you'd know, and it ended up (that specific) designer always used this synthetic fur? I thought she lowkey stood up and spoke up against fur, but have I missed other times she did?
