imnotyourbabe10 6,102
I wouldn't say it cursed her or anything long term. It was just really disappointing that many people didn't seem to understand the message of the song and her use of Biblical analogies in order to reflect on toxic romantic relationships. They let their religion/preconceived notions get in the way it seemed? One of her best, though. Top 5 played in my Gaga list for sure!
TexasMonster 3
I kind of agree with OP. Judas was not a good choice for a single. I understand it was successful in Europe but it killed all of the momentum of BTW in the US. However, that is nothing she couldn't bounce back from with better single choices after. I think Madonnas comments about BTW were the most negative thing to happen during that era. I mean I still see people all over social media trying to convince people that everything gaga does is an imitation of madonna. All of the older gays that initially loved gaga and bought tickets to TMBT had suddenly turned their backs on her and it showed in ticket sales. For example in dallas gaga had 3 sold out shows for TMBT and only 1 for TBTWB.... then artrave which i loved but I had never seen so many empty seats in an arena show before Anyways I hope Joanne is bringing people back, I have huge expectations for the SB and really hope a Joanne tour will benefit from it. Twitter 14
I always thought it began with the Alejandro music video then a snowball effect since then, but you do have valid points!
Delulu Rogers 7,373
No the reason is that btw was to gay and polarizing and purged the majority of the fanbase cause she became "too gay" and uncool. Then ARTPOP mess happened, Joanne took too long to come out and was still not the pop savour everyone was hoping for.
