i blame her management / record label

maybe it *was* her choice...!?! who knows.

if it *WAS* her choice to promote Perfect Illusion as lead single, followed by Million Reasons... then she needs to fire herself.

Stop. Idc if it didn't go number 1, it's my favorite Gaga song out of all her albums. It's so good. While it could have been longer with some synths being louder, and new sections, that's the beauty of art. I just love it soo much. Absolutely amazing song.

Disagreed too. There's no single material on the album other than PI and MR, let alone lead single material.

I actually find it better than Applause

I think its release was just intended to create a buzz, thus the lack of promo, idk

I think it makes sense as a lead single. It seems to me like the bridge between her old stuff and Joanne.

PI is the anthemic, synth heavy in-your-face pop banger that could stand side by side with Applause or Born This Way but the production of Ronson and Kevin Parker with some of the guitar work of Josh Homme hint at the change in direction that Joanne offers.

It's something that I think her long time fans could recognise as a 'classic Gaga' sounding lead single while also kind of signaling a musical change of course.

I like Perfect Illusion! It's not my favourite song ever, and I don't think it's the best in her discography, but I feel the same way about Applause and Born This Way tbh :laughga:

I think it's A solid song that definitely showcases the raw and adrenalin pumping feel she was going for; However, There's just something about it that feels incomplete. I tried getting into it but it just never happened.

Yeah it's def her worst lead but besides Diamond Heart I don't know what else they would have picked.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~
