I'm also talking about the GP overrating Bey which for Gags they're very meh towards too. I only hear people calling Gaga queen mostly on this site. I mean when she was at her peak. HausAlly 799
i personally love bey and lemonade is the first album of hers that roped me in, but i do think that too many people focus on unimportant things like who cares if one song is credited to 20 people, its still amazing music. i also understand how annoying it is when an artist is overexposed so to each their own i guess, the only thing i really can't stand is when some people try to dictate what is good by their own standards to other people. President Trump 3,508
As a side note, I genuinely do not like Beyoncé, just like I genuinely don't like other artists of various ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, white artists included, and somehow I'm a racist if I don't like Beyoncé because "everyone likes beyonce so you must just be a racist." I'm not referring to anyone in this topic, but I've heard this even IRL. So it's pretty pathetic. That's not a comment towards the OP, just an observation that it is in fact possible to have genuine likes and dislikes that don't pertain to the race of the person singing, or what influence is in their music. If I don't like a certain bang bang of a certain type of drum, that doesn't make me racist because that drum is used in a certain type of culture - it means I don't like that drum. It is possible to analyze music based off of song structure, chord structure, lyrics, melody, you name it. I like Drakes album and it's not because he's black. I like lady Gaga and it's not because she's a woman. I don't like Beyoncé and it's not because she's a black woman. Juxtaposed to my liking of Sarah Vaughan, who's voice I absolutely love, it really does irritate me when race is assumed to play a role in this decision when it's not there. It is possible to not like a black woman's voice, not because of her race, but because of her VOICE. And as music is completely subjective, yes I do realize that others like her, and yes I respect that. Ma ma pa pa pa
lifeasgeorge 9,427
I wasn't going to chime in, but here we go So I'd like to start off by saying that Beyonce is 100% talented and a phenomenal performer (one of the best from our generation), but that being said it's hard for me to personally stan her just because she seems so ungenuine in her work. I feel like up until the release of BEYONCE she was like every other pop star and after 4 didn't do as well commercially as her previous work, her team recognized that they had to brand her differently. The surprise album release was an amazing move on their part, and making the album about feminism was also a brilliant move, BUT once I saw that Lemonade underwent the EXACT same formula (except focusing on Black Lives Matter) it just seems strange that her music seems to be hopping on current political trends. While these issues could actually mean a lot to her, I just find it weird with as much power as she has how she doesn't seem to use her voice for these causes. We countlessly see Gaga speaking in interviews about what her music means and fighting for others. But why not Beyonce? For example, after Trump won the election we see Gaga protesting outside of Trump Tower and crying in her car after seeing the results. Many artists made comments on social media, yet Beyonce stayed silent. If she truly means what her albums stand for, why does she not advocate or do anything with her MASSIVE following???? She has the ability to do so much, yet doesn't because it's all about sales (imo). Her relationship with her fans also seems so one-sided. She is literally PRAISED by the Beyhive and it always seems as if she could care less about them (imo). Whereas, once again, we see Gaga hugging fans, sending them pizza outside her hotel, etc. Even just yesterday we saw Gaga visit that LGBT Homeless center and reach out to those who have been affected by Gaga the most. When will Bey ever? Like I said this is all my opinion, Beyonce is still a talented woman. I do not hate her or Lemonade. live and let live
Aga Gydal 3,158
Lady Gaga fans are jealous. Most fan bases are. Lemonade perfectly encapsulates the black experience for many, something many non-black listeners can't (or in cases, refuse to) relate to. Beyoncé managed to create something meaningful and artful while also retaining the "pop" - the music is trendy and relatable. She also put her marriage at the forefront which really framed the album as personal and authentic. That being said, of course the project is what it is because of Beyonce's popularity, her team of writers, and her massive creative collaborators. She's not a song-writer, but she doesn't need to be. She's earned the resources and the reach she has now. She hustled. People on this site like to make excuses and call her overrated, but they're doing themselves a massive disservice as pop fans. It takes incredible finesse to make something that's commercially viable, politically edgy AND deeply personal. That's why people praise Lemonade. The fact that she's a marketing genius and the greatest live performer of all time (I'll repeat it here: ALL time) is just the cream on top. And let's not compare Beyoncé to Lady Gaga. They're on completely different trajectories. The former just released her most meaningful album to date, and has set the bar so high that she may never meet it again. Gaga is in transition from pop star in limbo to a massive musical force, but she needs time to get there. Respect to both for leading the pack in the things that matter. I don't see them.. (and flops ones of some long lost rappers don't counts) First, the songs are trash, her vocals are bad, the lyrics are idiotic and I can't believe that a group of 5+ people actually sat and wrote them. The only nice thing is the visual.. replace the songs with any other songs and the visual would be good anyway.. but it doesn't mean that the music is good.. Lemonade.. I can't even finish 1 song in this album.. it's just bad.. and the GP barely heard a song from it except for Formation at the SB.. I don't even worship Beyoncé nor am I familiar with her discography but bad vocals? Really? And if you think Lemonade's lyrics are idiotic then most of Gaga's discography would be considered idiotic as well. I don't know, you just seem like you're hating on Beyoncé for no valid reason to be frank.
GhettoFabulous 18,501
I love love Beyoncé but some of her stans are incredibly insensitive and rude( but I mean some monsters are too) But I don't know someone said it here the gp/people make me dislike her more other than that I love her she's a legend and the album is great

I'm just criticizing this specific album.. her vocals on this album are bad compare to her previous work, like disturbing my ears.. what can I do? oh I shouldn't even start with some of Gaga's lyrics, trust me, I'm even more harsh with her..
