He created this huge cultural THING around the clothes and he aesthetic for the album and sold the **** for a whole year. The merch alone made $1mil before the tour even kicked off. Not to mention the art installations, fashion show where he debuted the album, etc. Besides maybe Rihanna, no other artist has editors, fans, tabloids, and music fans wrapped around their finger Its so funny to me that because people dislike him they can't acknowledge his impact. I'm surprised more people, especially on this website, aren't showing any empathy. Also, I am sure what he said about Beyonce and Jay-Z was largely true, and that's why he was dropped from Roc Nation. Jay-Z and Beyonce seem to be the type to not care about anyone but themselves. See: Beyonce's friendship with Gaga lol it was only existent when Gaga was the more popular artist His career isn't over. Another label will definitely pick up one of the most popular artists this decade. I hope he gets the rest and help he needs. I only started listening to rihanna in 2011 so I don't know about her past songs, but anyways. In early 2012 and late 2011, the mainstream genre was EDM and Rihanna's hits around that time were EDM. late 2012 and early 2013 (maybe even mid 2013) the mainstream genre was ballad songs and rihanna hits around that time are ballads. 2016 is the year of reggae pop and tropical house. Rihanna's hit from that year is reggae pop (work) It doesn't need to be similar to any song to be considered anti-trends.
