lego 44,165
Texas tea party state Sen. Konni Burton (pictured with Sen. Ted Cruz) has filed legislation that would effectively require public school employees to out LGBT students to their parents. Under Burton's Senate Bill 242, teachers and other school employees who fail to disclose a student's sexual orientation or gender identity to parents could face discipline, even if the student requests that the information be withheld. If passed, SB 242 would place LGBT youth in the conservative state at risk for abuse, neglect or suicide if their parents aren't accepting. It could even expose them to the dangerous, discredited practice of "reparative therapy," which happens to be endorsed in the Texas GOP platform. read all http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/johnwright/texas_lawmaker_wants_to_force_schools_to_out_lgbt_students_to_parents FreePalestine

Supersonic 49,376
I read about this online with somebody posting a personal story that in 8th grade a "concerned" teacher outted him to his mother and that consequently got thrown out, fell into depression and tried committing suicide. This is f*cking severe.

mucinex 4,260
it's scary to think a place where you're supposed to feel safe, you can't. even after bullying from other students, the teachers are going to make them unsafe, too!? i hope and i doubt this will get passed. but whoever thought of this idea is an idiot! Bette Davis 12,742
Everything really is bigger in Texas, especially dumbass politicians. What is this even supposed to do aside from put kids in danger? If a kid doesn't want to come out to their parents, there is probably a good reason why.. Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.
