Idk why people hate on the title Lady Wood. Pretty sure it's tongue-in-cheek.

It's not tongue in cheek at all. She's very clear in what she means.

I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It- the 1975

it's a long title but its so corny (not in the ironic way) and plain stupid

edit: is the 1975 mainstream? they are relatively popular (almost top level in band terms)

Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

To each their own. I see it being sold in major retailers like Target so...

You make this big stink about this thread not being about boring or bland titles, about how this is about bad names, then go on about how it's to ridiculous to sell or market when the album has been promoted through huge billboard ads, is available in retailers, and sold around the same first week numbers as its predecessor. If it's about bad names, first...can't that include boring titles...and if not, secondly...why can it include marketability? Seems like a double standard.

And it's too raunchy? Well, I think that's the point. Have you listened to the album? Heard her speak? It's all about sex and sexual relationships. It's objective though, so I can understand why people think it's bad. I just think your points were for the most part either inconsistent, incorrect, or irrelevant.

Yes, major retailers sell it, but will it sell is the question.

It's about how a bad title tends to turn off a potential listener. If it makes you laugh negatively or if it grosses you out, you're less likely to buy it. First impressions matter. You're more likely to buy something that sounds good or at least makes you feel neutral as opposed to something ridiculous. Like I said, people buy boring titles all the time but bad titles struggle because people can't take them seriously. If people can't take it seriously, it won't sell, your career won't do as well. Of course marketability matters. I really don't know what you're struggling to understand?

Yes, I've listened to the album. But I still think the title and cover was too much and too raunchy for what was actually in it. It's very tame considering how it wants to project itself. It maybe turned off a lot of people who found it too extreme. And parents are hardly going to approve of their kid wanting such an album. I think unless you're an indie act on the fringes of society, you have to be aware of your audience and your place in the industry and make sure you're putting out the right impressions. This was partly the reasoning I gave to a user the other day who asked why this album wasn't selling that well. I know what I'm saying is annoying a lot of her fans but I'm just telling it like it is as an casual member of the public, for they usually buy more copies than the actual fans. They matter a lot.

My question wasn't whether marketability matters. It is why you're dictating that people who find a title boring cannot put those albums on this list. Is finding a title unmemorable any different than marketability? I was pointing out a double standard you created. That was the point and I'm honestly shocked it went over your head. You must've ducked....cause it  should've hit you right in the face.

And considering the album is moving the same weekly numbers as QOTC...it doesn't seem to be bothering most people.
