Favorite Lyrics/ Delivery on Joanne?

I agree with everything you said.

Diamond Heart

I love the way she says "I'll just keep go-going", I can really imagine her mimicking the go-going.

And the end of the chorus : "Diamooooond... Heart." Unexpected but cool.

A-YO

How she sings the "mirror on the ceiling" in the second chorus, it's crazy, at first I wondered if it had been done in the mastering because I couldn't imagine someone singing like that, but it turns out she can do it live.

Joanne

"Take my hand, stay Joanne
Heaven's not
Ready for you
Every part
Of my aching heart
Needs you more
Than the angels do"

Honestly how she sings the entire song, it's beautiful... It's simple and light, and her voice breaks a little.

Million Reasons

The bridge is delivered in a beautiful and powerful way, her voice is a little like Adele's, the way it breaks.

Sinner's Prayer

"I get on my knees and beg you"

I just love how it's delivered, very country.

Come to Mama

The iconic "Come onto mama, come on, mama"

The dramatic way she puts into the chorus too.

Angel Down

"Shots were fired on the street
By the church where we used to meet"

The way it ends with that low note on "meet" is perfect.

I love the "oh oh oh" in the bridge too.

Grigio Girls

The end of the song, very powerful.

Just Another Day

The entire song :interestinga:

REALITY

Come to Mama:

"Stop throwin' stones at your sisters and your brothers
Man, it wasn't that long ago we were all living in the jungle
So why do we gotta put each other down
When there's more than enough love to g-g-go around?"

Angel Down:

"Shots were fired on the street
By the church where we used to meet
Angel down, angel down
Why do people just stand around?"

A-YO:

"Get off on me, my body's got you pleadin'
Light me up and breathe in
Mirror on the ceilin'
Off on me, my body's got you pleadin'
Light me up and breathe in
Mirror on the ceiling"

Million Reasons:

"I've got a hundred million reasons to walk away
But baby, I just need one good one to stay"

*Those are just some of my personal favorites :hor:

River

DIC - In the fire I call your name out / IDK I love the spiritual tribe vibe in this sentence..

SP - I can carry you, but not your ghosts

AD - Why do we pretend we're wrong?
Has our young courage faded?

CTM - The only prisons that exist are ones we put each other in

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Flippy

I love a lot of them, but right now what it comes to mind is

"every heartbreak makes it hard to keep the faith...

but baby I just need one good one, good one, good one, good one, good one, good one"

Dancin In Circles

Hurts inside but not this time
All the things that are on my mind
Vanish as I touch myself
Calling out out for you
Oh, can you hear me
singin'?

She sounds so damn sexy

Am I the only one who gets MAJOR G.U.Y. teas from this???

I always sing  'hurts inside but not this time. Im in charge like a G.U.Y.' :toofunny:

Everything everyone has mentioned, plus:

Every John is just the same
I'm sick of their city games
I crave a real wild man
I'm strung out on John Wayne

Diamond Heart

Some asshole broke me in
Wrecked all my innocence
I'll just keep go-go'n
And this dance is on you

I love this lyric because she was a go-go dancer and the following line is “this dance is on you"— and could be in reference to her loss of innocence after someone took it away unwillingly. This could be a reference to her experience with sexual assault.

Come to Mama The only prisons that exist are ones we put each other in

Swan Heart

''It wasn't love'' slays me still.

Also the Hey Girl bridge.

And ''But it's as good as, good as, good as, good as gold''

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

:music:Help me hold my hair back
Walk me home 'cause I can't find a cab
And we dance down The Bowery
Held hands like we were 17 again
And then it's 4am
The sun is creepin' up again
Don't you leave me
Oh, darling don't you leave me:giveup:

Hey Girl:

Help me hold my hair back
Walk me home 'cause I can't find a cab
And we dance down the bowery
Held hands like we were 17 again

I want to slow dance and cry during this

Inside my head I have the best time
