I'm starting to hate the word "Gay" tbh. I'm gay and i don't feel/look like that kid on the ad (who looks super stereotypically "gay" btw) and i don't relate to it in any way. But that's what society thinks gay people look/act like and it makes me so mad. What a cringe fest tbh Am I hinting some internalized homophobia here or am I reaching for the moon? Some people do act like that and you think it's cringe worthy because the guy is a fem . Yea I understand that the media portrays all gays to be as that, but you literally said it makes you mad. Is it because you're not represented or is it because well you don't like fems or is it because fems are what gay men are portrayed to be (and why do you care what people think, you're gay for God sakes people are always gonna have they stupid opinions)? Which comes back to my question, is there some sort of internalized homophobia because you don't want to be associated with fems as you're embarrassed of them because they don't fit that masculine outline? Hope I don't come across as aggressive or anything like that. I just want to know how people like you think to understand your reasoning.

But coming to the ad, it's use of stereotypes and clichés is rather awful than funny, I like politically incorrect humor but if there is no purpose in using such stereotypes... keep it. 4 hours ago, KleinGa said: I hate stereotypes that are just continue to be fed by supposedly "gay" shows and the media. Ughhh. But get that promo Gagz. She needs to make another anthem that willl withstand the test of time tbh. 3 hours ago, Driezewies said: Kind of cute and cringeworthy at the same time tbh. Just continues the stereotype that gays can't be sportsmen and/or like the real superbowl 2 hours ago, Beto said: There's no representation for masculine gay men in my country and, to me, that's a problem. Grew up with zero representavity of any sort. The only representation of LGBT in the media I saw growing up were effeminate gay men, masculine lesbians and transgender people being 'the joke' in whatever scenario they're at. Really infuriating. On a curious note: given how gay men were 'the joke' - there just to either be made fun of or make fun of themselves depreciatively - on TV shows, they were usually extremely effeminate and ugly looking (not the actors particularly but on purpose, using makeup and all that stuff). So I still have this thing in my head where it doesn't add up gay man being great looking and/or very masculine. For example, there's this dude on twitter who's openly gay and also extremely great looking. It never really hits me that he's gay when I look at him because it doesn't add up in my mind. Consequently, I expect every great looking man to be straight. That's how stereotypes and the media really f*cks up your brain. ..... but there are guys who act like this. There are masculine gay guy characters represented in entertainment. Wouldn't we want broad spectrum of gay guys to be represented so no matter whether we are are feminine or masculine we can still be humanized and accepted? But if they wanted to represent everybody, they could have easily included some gay sport jocks in the ad. Not that it would have been hard, given it's about the Superbowl ... "Noah Galvin gave a brutally frank interview to New York magazine's Vulture blog about Hollywood's "glass closet." In it, Galvin, 22, described another gay actor, Colton Haynes, as "the worst" and Haynes' recent coming out as "f—ing *** bullshit"; called Eric Stonestreet's Emmy-winning performance as a gay dad on Modern Family "a caricature of a caricature"" The irony considering how this kid portrays gays not to mention this advertisement Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet. This sort of exposure has caused people to immediately associate gay people with feminine characteristics.
