It wasn't, the reviewer talks plenty about the album and goes into plenty of detail as to why he did not like it, and he has favorable things to say about Gaga throughout. But feel free to jump into a circle-jerk of idiocy instead of actually reading it with an ounce of comprehension, I know that's a lot easier.

Thank you so much for your answer. But i´m still not convinced about the reviewer´s intentions.

She displayed shockingly poor taste in doing this, and a hilariously ironic misunderstanding of the review she was responding too. The way she handles criticism is really sore.

Yeah, it's strange, you'd think she would be able to handle criticism better after all these years.

Or because you act like somebody who has already made his mind up and just wants to argue back and forth to get a quick fix of attention.

Anyways good luck on that.

You engaged me in conversation not the other way around.

You decided that because I accurately described the nuance of one of Donald Trump's policy positions in another thread, you could not only dismiss my opinion on a totally separate topic, but dismiss my character. It's pathetic, you know it, and that is why you refuse to address it.

There are right and wrong ways to criticize someone's work. Joanne isn't a flawless record, you can have good and valid reasons to criticize it in a legit way, but honestly most of the bad reviews I read so far are more about Gaga herself than the music and the album itself. And when people have this kind of approach to her work, she has all the rights to go off and drag them in my opinion.

Oh come on guys.

What was she supposed to do, just ignore the fact that he gave a really bad negative review to her best album that he OBVIOUSLY didn't even listen to?!

she's 30, she doesn't need to be goody goody anymore, let her speak and be free

if someone trashed your incredible work, would you just stand by and let them put it down, on such a bit scale, such as the ny times??? like, no, you're gonna stand up and ****ing say something, and that's what she's done on this entire album..... WHERE THE **** ARE OUR LEADERS? Gaga is a leader. Like she says in Come To Mama, WHO ARE YOU GONNA FOLLOW!?!?! Everybody's gotta love each other, stop throwing stones at your sisters and your brothers.

Why do we gotta tell each other how to live? The only prisons are the ones we put each other in.

This is her telling EVERYONE she's not having that negativity anymore, it's over.

she has though, for a long time.. i mean yeah she's hit back at them, but it's about time she says what she's truly thinking and snaps back at them because if they're allowed to say things about her, doesnt she have a right to defend herself?

I think she's got every right to defend her work to this dude, that review was a hell of a hitjob, unfounded in any sort of critical analysis and more of a personal affront than an honest opinion of Joanne.

AND I LOVE IT.

Are we reading the same review? :laughga:

It's this one right? http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/20/arts/music/review-lady-gaga-joanne.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&_r=0

Yes, he talks plenty about the album. But look at the ending of every sentence or paragraph. It always ends in a "sounds like a Britney Spears parody" or "performances were ostentatious" (in reference to the Oscars...which was really quite an average performance visually).

The issue with the review isn't necessarily that he hates the album. It's that he expresses that through constantly criticizing Gaga herself.

He uses tweets to validate his points when he should just be listening to the music and saying what he did and did not like. Was the Chainsmokers feud mention necessary to the review? No. Was the use of terms like 'flop' necessary? No.

This reviewer is extremely unprofessional. And if you think otherwise then you need some alone time to work things out.
