'Joanne' in the direction of 'Pure Heroine'?

*disclaimer: sorry for bad english*

We're all quite underwhelmed by the lack of promo, I know.

But the more I listen to the snippets the more I think this is a brilliant, multi-award winning and highly acclaimed album.

Pure Heroine by Lorde had one or two successful singles (Royals, Team, Yellow Flicker Beat?) and the album was critically acclaimed.

Her single 'Royals' won two Grammy awards (I hate this song though)

Didn't seem like this album was ever heavily promoted, it was simply good (apparently) and won awards, it went on to sell 1,500,000 copies in the US alone and was certified 3X times!

I think Joanne can be capable of such success. The album is GOOD, REALLY GOOD. I already have friends who are addicted to PI and MR and they're not even fans.

I can't say the same about ARTPOP (and I love this album), it was too polarizing and the heavy promotion didn't help it.

So I'm still optimistic about this album :)

I'm not sure. To be honest, I'm not sure the album will be as critically acclaimed as we are hoping.

Pure Heroine is a great album with a new different sound back when it was released. Not Joanne, apparently there are a lot of inspired sounds in classic rock anthems, country vibes and 70s popular music. Critics might love her effort to bring these classic sounds to the modern age and give her that acclaim, but... I'm not as optimistic as I was before.

To be honest, I'm sure I'll always love Pure Heroine more than Joanne. Pure Heroine is an amazing album with brilliant lyrics and production sound, it's quality music. Plus it's Lorde's debut album which makes it even more special.

I guess you haven't heard the album if you think it's basic :laughga: You know, it's hard to make music that's raw and honest but polished at the same time - but she achieved that. I'm sure many of the songs on Joanne will be like that too, but at this point I love Pure Heroine way more. I'm looking forward to hear Dancin' In Circles and Diamond Heart because those songs seem to be solid pop records. That's Gaga's strength as an artist after all in my opinion.

I haven't because I just can't stand the songs I already know. I don't know if it's her voice or the heavy editing of it but it's just annoying.

Royals is far from the best songs on the album. Buzzcut Season and Glory And Gore are definetely the best ones, Tennis Court too. But the fact that you don't like her voice doesn't mean that the music is bad, you know? Even if I didn't like the album and thought about it objectively, I would say that the songs are pretty good. It's quality pop!

Pure Heroine and Joanne, now that's something that doesn't add up in comparision.

Pure Heroine is those special debut albums like a weaker Jagged Little Pill. It was exactly what the times demanded, lyrically and sound wise. It's one for the records.

So you're tlking about the peak of a teenage modern genius, that seemed like the new Fiona Apple, and compare it with the exhausted Lady Gaga at the lowest moment of her creativity and her struggle to connect to people and create something relevant. Nah it's the opposite

Don't you think it's boring how people talk

Making smart with their words again

Well I'm bored

It's a new art form showing people how little we care, yeah

This video is basically one long selfie.
