Some of the songs ended up being weighed down by the wall of electronic noise without having actual compelling themes and ideas behind them. If you listen to it in the context of it being the cultural "Reverse Warholian Expedition" that she proclaimed it as, you might even be underwhelmed or confused. but if you just listen to it as a fun carefree pop album with occasionally complex themes and vibrant EDM productions, it's really not NEARLY as bad as people made it out to be. Still not as good as TFM or BTW but there are solid and colorful BOPS being served throughout for the gays to devour. Applause, DWUW, Sexxx Dreams, and Gypsy remain some of the most exciting and fun bops of her career, even if they had little to do with the "ART" side of "ARTPOP". I'll never forgive the writers for not having celia hodes drive by, say something obscene under her breath, and drive off. I completely agree that the aforementioned songs are incredible and among her best, but I have to respectfully disagree on "Gypsy" lacking artistic merit; the message is profoundly beautiful. Of course, I could be a bit biased given my user name, haha. Additionally, I think "Aura," "Venus," "G.U.Y.," "ARTPOP," and "Dope" are fantastic. I truly don't get the hate for the album.
