Lextyr97 19,990
Don't trust anyone. People said Perfect Illusion is better than Bad Romance. PI is awesome though, I ****ing love it.
PurpleJungle 49
Gaga and everybody can call the album whatever they want. It's a country album! Not the typical sound though... BTW was an electro-rock album, but it was obviously pop above all things. JOANNE is very country actually. I mean, Gaga is even wearing a cowboy hat on the cover for christ sake! I guess it's better to promote it as pop than country... She once said Adele's music was pop, so what do I know? Anyway, I'm excited and happy for the album nonetheless. Can't wait to hear it in full.

That doesn't mean it's the kinda country artists like Dierks Bentley do but more like the one Bob Dylan, Bett Anderson, Bon Jovi in his most country tracks, even T.Swift during the Speak Now era sing. Joanne, despite the cowboys references (John Wayne, the hi-yas in A-YO and the country twangy vibe of Sinner's Prayer) is not a cowboy album. I never claimed it to be a cowboy album. I just said the country influences are strong.

The only songs that lack the country twang are PI, DH, DIC, CTM, and maybe AD. It's all a perspective thing. Ehhhh. I grew up around country and I don't believe any of the songs are country. A few of them are more like folk but that's about it.

There's a reason why #GUY is #1 on our chart and #Birthday isn't even on it. @Hits93Toronto @KatysFlop: Birthday is NOT gonna enter the Canadian Hot 100 because, of how little airplay it gets. GUY will most definitely get in. @Hits93Toronto @PromoKaty05: Oh, and Dark Horse is ONLY being played so much because, Katy PAID the stations to play it. It's a marketing scheme. @Hits93Toronto @_iEatHearts: No, I'm just stating facts. I don't think it's professional to be paying radio stations to play your music EVERY 10mins. 9 hours ago, TheFame Monster said: They said Katy' uses payola and that's why they played GUY instead of Birthday back in 2014 they spilledT some real hot tea Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine

One second Taylor goes pop, then suddenly Gaga goes...country?!?!?! Well we know theres a mix so it cant be all country. And some somgs could merely be an influence Like Perfect Illusion. Some people like to call it rock because its got a rock feel with the guitars and vocals but it is still pop Million reasons has a bit of a Country vibe but tbh, to me it still sounds more pop than country despite a slight vibe We dont know how hardcore the country vibe is for the album as a whole. It may be nothing more than an influence. We were told the album was pop at heart after all

There's no denying the strong country sound in these. And adjectives that have been used are 'folky', 'bluesy', 'twang', all words used to describe a country sound? Bluesy and folk are NOT country music, even if people mistakenly use them as one and the same thing. Blues and folk and even soul are their own genres and they have clearly influenced Joanne. You should note and appreciate this distinction. Twang is about the only thing closest to country and even then it's just a style of singing.

So in this sense her album is influenced by a number of different genres and so not really Country so much as an eclectic mix of music that includes a twang/country influence. Is it really country or what? lol. I have no idea what to expect since I have only heard PI. There are country influences, Sinner's Prayer, A-Yo, and Million Reasons are really the only ones with a country vibe to them, and we've already heard them in full. I'd say that between the three of them, though, Sinner's Prayer has the most "country". 𝔊𝔬𝔬𝔡𝔟𝔶𝔢, ℑ'𝔩𝔩 𝔰𝔢𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔦𝔫 𝔪𝔶 𝔡𝔯𝔢𝔞𝔪𝔰
