What she said makes sense, "you want to push the envelope in terms of your creativity and your music and taking the show to the next level, but I don't know if it's the place to push the envelope in other ways".

It's a family friendly show. It's her way if saying "It's going to be a highly creative, great show, but my boob isn't going to burst out of my costume".

I'm in the same boat. Gaga needs to bring it, and her craziness is what separates her from the rest and will ultimately create the most iconic superbowl halftime. This is the stage where she needs to make her VMAs performance look like a joke, not do a regular rock concert. I will take whatever she gives us as long as it's good at ANY other event, but this one needs to be her peak performance. The performance every other halftime performer has to beat, and the performance Gaga could never surpass. That's how important this ****ing thing is. Please, Gaga. PLEASE, don't let us down

I will be. I want one piece on the piano, something that is all vocals and play, to make the bar, and then she can jump over that bar with something rousing and big.

Everyone acts like big dancing and ridiuclous performance is everything, but the football fans have been screaming for Springsteen for years now, and he doesn't do that much. Give them piano rock and guitars, and brass and theatrics yes, but not the same old thing they've gotten the past 5 years in a row.

But, besides that, you do realize that she's doing the Super Bowl, right?? Regardless, it's one of the highest honors that any musician can possibly have. Before you start complaining about "Oh, she needs to do this" or "She can't do that!" remember that she's one of the few who even has the opportunity to do this. Be a bit more grateful.

I agree... HOWEVER... I also disagree. I think Gaga has her finger on the pulse of the GP more than we give her credit. Of course, the GP is expecting Gaga at her most outlandish version of herself. But Gaga also knows that, at the end of the day, because of all she has done before, simply doing that again in a different style will not be shocking (or even that entertaining). And she'll get dragged --- by both the GP and her fans. She can't recreate her phenomenon years. Those years were phenomenal because we did not know what to expect. Now that we know, it HAS to be about the music and the viewers. Simple as that. 

I think what she's trying to say is that she isn't here to shock, she's here to perform and give the viewers a musical performance that will excite them musically. 

I do agree with the OP, those expecting to see Gaga drop out of the sky from a UFO singing Poker Face while glitter and laser lights shower the crowd are probably going to be disappointed. BUT, that does not mean she's not going to absolutely ROCK IT.

I think the best example of what she's aiming for is Prince. Who was another artist expected to go completely over the top. But he showed restraint and focused instead simply on the music. And yet, to this day, it is praised as one of the greatest half time shows of all time, because it was first and foremost about the music.
