I live in Bay Area now, it is much closer to San Andreas than where I lived beforehand, Mount.Washington area, San Rafael Ave., but tbh, I am ready.

Well, there won't be  tsunamis and deep chasms opening up, but do expect violent shaking, building damage, fires and widespread economic impacts as the region is out of action for potentially a long period of time.

Unlike say, Chile or Japan,  The tectonic situation in California is different. There won't be 9.0 earthquake like the films depicted. Expect 6-7 richter scale the most.

It will be more like 1994 Northridge Earthquake,

 

 

 

so yes, major damage still gonna happen. But you should come prepare if you live in Calif. in the first place. If your parents already live in Calif before 1994, they already know what to do, if they don't then they are pretty much reckless about it tbh.

While you have time, retrofit your house to better hold up against shaking. And include extra fire extinguishers in you earthquake kits to put out little flames before they get out of hand. Participate in ShakeOut drills training, get your survivalism, it will be stupid not to when you knew something terrible is looming!
