Update | 29 September 2016: The most recent charges against Charlo Greene in her marijuana case include six more offenses than the original indictment, according to a spokeswoman for the Alaska attorney general’s office. Instead of eight counts for a total of 24 years in prison, she is facing 14 offenses for a possible 54 years.

Reached by phone on Thursday, Greene said she was unaware that she was facing a sentence twice as harsh as the original indictment filed against her last year.

Original | 28 September 2016 : Charlo Greene did not plan to curse on live television, but on 22 September 2014, the words came pouring out.

Then a reporter for KTVA, a station in Alaska, Greene ended her segment on marijuana by revealing that she was a proponent of legalization – and was the owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, the subject of her news report.

“**** it, I quit,” she said, before abruptly walking off camera. The 26-year-old’s stunt shocked her colleagues and made her a viral sensation overnight.

Greene quickly became a full-time cannabis advocate, working to help Alaskans access pot after the state became the third in the US tolegalize recreational pot in November 2014.

And meanwhile people like Brock Turner only get 3 months for raping and ruining a girl's life. America - Land of the Rich and White. :wtf:

So you think she has received a harsh sentence because she is black?

If the recent miscarriages of justice is any indication, most certainly not. Idk. Why don't you go test it? :toofunny:

Oh, so you can form an intelligent conversation then. I was slightly concerned there with your first post. :golfclap:

Not entirely, but it definitely is something that was considered when discussing her case. It's been proven by various statistics that white and rich people get way less time for the same crimes than poor, black, middle eastern, and hispanic people.

I think it's largely to do with the class system and less about race. Of course though you could argue that 'middle class surbibia' is comprised largely of white people so I agree to an extent. In this case I think they're just making an example out of her which is such a common method to promote fear.

Goosey

She was a drug peddler. She was selling illegal substances. Marijuana is a Schedule I controlled substance. That's the HIGHEST DRUG CLASSIFICATION.

Why is this AT ALL surprising?

The Alaska Cannabis Club sold “memberships” to people, giving them marijuana when they made “donations.” Investigators reportedly targeted the club, with six undercover purchases and two raids over a five-month period.
