I think she needed this JOANNE era to just be the person she is at home when all the wigs and make up come off. If she didn't start over again now, as Stefani she could never do it and pull it off in the future say 8 or 10 albums in, just wouldn't make sense? Like it would be tacky for her to be that deep in the game and then come out with this concept. It makes sense in my head but then again only gaga knows what she is doing with her career and this album and the next.
