Born This Way the album that killed Gaga's career. God I hate that album so much and I bet Gaga regrets making that mistake till this day.

+ Don't tell me Gaga doesn't care about charts, actually Gaga cares much more about charts than Katy , Rihanna, Beyonce, and many other artists and there are many examples. The applause situation + #### you pop music cause she's not at the top anymore and many more. She just hurt that  people start to abandon her with BTW and lost the GP with that album. If she really doesn't care about chart she would say music not the bling when she was at the top when the fame monster came out not with ARTPOP when everybody with a common scene know that she will flop because she lost the GP. So I never believed music not the bling #### + if she doesn't care about charts why she keeps changing genres to get a new audience, if she really doesn't care she would stick with pop no matter what.

to the people who don't care about charts, this topic is not for you so what are u doing here????

Born This Way literally helped millions of people get through intense, homophobic phases that many family and society in general made them go through. It literally saved lives. But you hate it because it "killed her career" ??? Charts and sales are more important to you than the livelihood of millions of young people? Get the **** outta here omg.

Im sure he understands how much that album helped a lot of the Little Monsters but I can certainly agree that BTW was a commercially divisive maneuver

BTW certainly did start rolling the ball of people disliking Gaga, but who gives a **** what the GP thinks when it literally saved lives. I honestly don't comprehend how commercial success is deemed anywhere NEAR as important :duck:

Everyone is struggling right nOw for a top ten hit, especially people who have been around for years. It's the same for Britney, Katy, Beyoncé, and rihannna. Beyoncé and Gaga are prob going to be making most of their money from album sales and tours. Beyoncé typically sales well with albums, but she hasn't had a real sustainable hit since 2009. So it's not just Gaga. right now the trend is for Djs to come up with an extremely simple hook, and have a guest vocal. This has been trending for over a year now. It will come and go. Artists like Beyoncé and Gaga have to find ways to stay relevant. Beyoncé with her cultural/political message and Super Bowl performance, visual albums, etc. Gaga with her TV/movie acting, her highly televised tributes, her critically acclaimed jazz album(and good seller), and hopefully Super Bowl as well. I see Joanne doing well, but she really needs to put in the effort and promote, -!; releasing a GOOD single. Everyone is visual now. We need visuals at our fingertips. Her team needs to remember that when coming up with strategies. Beyoncé's visual albums is one of the best ideas to stay relevant since Madonna.

I honestly don't care about charts but I do care about her success I just want her to have one successfully radio friendly top 10 bop each album to help sell the album. then she can do whatever she was with the 14 other songs

This.

I've always had a disdain for BTW because it was the wrench in gagas world domination. And it wasn't even the whole album, only 1 song dealt with homosexuality but the fact she beat that into the ground and surrounded the entire album with it, and became this weird motherly figure.

And people say 'oh but BTW helped so many gays' yea, TF/M helped a lot also because it gave them the confidence to be weird and strange and know that it was OK. Any good that can be argued for BTW can be argued for her previous albums too.

I Don't Think It Was the whole album that put a dent in her career I think it was Judas born this way the song was huge and didn't The album itself sell over 1 million in the first week I think it all went down hill and her career suffered and the album suffered after judas

Judas was the first blundered single because of the lyrics and the release date, but the persona she took on at the beginning of BTW that she carried through out was really what caused the decline.

JUDAS was the first of a few bad career moves.  It was such a horrible single choice, unfortunate video. Sometimes she needs to get a common consensus from her team of what singles to release, and not just go with what she wants. She's not the only one that has done that. Adele's favorite song she had ever written is "When we were young", so she pushed for it to be the second single from 25. It slowed momentum way down(not that it matters, she already sold 8 million copies and sold of her tour). But the right decision would have been a radio friendly upbeat like "Send My love" for second single. In fact, even though Send my love is a long lasting top ten hit,  it would have been bigger coming off the heels of "Hello" as a second single. Artists really put te nail in the coffin of their own momentum sometimes.

True I think it was over time though when the single born this way came out I don't think I heard anyone saying anything bad about her and her "gay" personal tbh I remember born this way was the number one song for 3 weeks I think over time of her constantly being like that and throughout that whole album is when people got annoyed with it because that first single after the day it came out I remeber hearing it everywhere

Also, does anyone find this part of the article confusing:

The Weeknd, whose “Starboy,” featuring Daft Punk, debuts at No. 40 on the Hot 100 on the strength of just a day of streams and sales.

I am a huge Weeknd fan. But Starboy came out exactly a week after PI. So doesn't that mean PI had just a day of streams and sales? Honestly No. 40 for The Weeknd is terrible. His song didn't hit the #1 spot on iTunes at all, it's been at #2 or below. But he's revered? If anything Beauty Behind the Maddness was so successful that The Weeknd should be under more scrutiny than gaga at this point. But he gets a debut at #40 and it's fine. ARTPOP didn't do well so maybe people have lowered their expectations for this album cycle (although I loved ARTPOP).

The point is that this is why I don't care about charts, and you guys shouldn't either. What's important to me is that her music is recognized as great and the reviews acknowledge her introspection and massive vocal talent.

PI was released on Friday, so got a full week to chart.

Sb got released on Thursday.

Abel is #2 on iTunes,Spotify,MV just got out + getting 10M+ AI updates on radio (about to enter Radio Top 20 in just a week), probably the biggest since BTW/CSTF
