IMHO it isn't, it is more to personal music references. Some people enjoyed all.kinds of genres, some only limited to particular genres, and more often than not the latter group are the ones that felt the impact the hardest whenever their idols change their musical direction very drastically, especially if the direction they headed are something they didn't like which is such a pity.

It just that majority of Gaga fans are either knew her from the get go (Just Dance or Poker Face) or from 2009 (VMA or Bad Romance)

Personally, I love her since 2009, and she never cease to amaze me with her musical direction so far thanks to my love in music, not just pop.

Perhaps. I became a fan (in 2009) because besides good music, she was something unique and special. She turned every piece of art into a pop culture event. She made her career like whatching a show

Now a more sinple Gaga...

Sure shes talanted but tbh theres lots of artists you can find doing what shes doing especially underground artists

What Gaga was doing no one else was doing it on her scale. What shes doing now isnt as unique. :(

I agree, she was doing unique stuff because she WAS unique. She wasn't doing unique stuff just for the sake of being weird, don't you think?

Oh, I'm just visiting-

She had a huge fanbase then, even in the early days of the internet forum.

Imagine getting #1's 11 years in a row before a spectacular burnout with Glitter. The film was released around September 11, and Loverboy controversially peaked at #2 with a discounted single. Her fans hated that she relied so much on rappers, and wanted the old Mariah back. With Charmbracelet, her label obviously wanted her to return to a conservatively dressed diva singing power ballads, but Through The Rain bombed on the charts.

If you were a fan during the early days of Mimi, you would know that her label tried pushing Say Something before It's Like That became the official first single.

I can definitely picture the old lambs repeating themselves saying I want 90sMariah back like some stans in here say I want FameGa back :toofunny: Good to know she stuck to her guns and she came back harder than ever, while staying true to herself and her art.

See that's exactly the reason why I'm still supporting Gags during these commercial failure times, people may not get the new art she's exploring right now, but they eventually will. I just hope she doesn't backtrack anytime soon.

Thats part of the issue. People become fans of you because they like what you do. Change it and not every fan will like it

Ive always liked big Pop productions with exiting performances and music videos. No one did tgat better than Gaga

What shes doing now is much less unique. Tones of underground artists do this simple stuff shes doing now. She was the best at what she did before I dunno that shes the best on what shes doing now

Besides not standing out as much I also just dont like this style period.

For fans like me, its questionable whether or not I will embrace this change. So far, prospects dont look good :/

That's not entirely true tho. A lot of underground artists were doing very similar stuff to what Gaga was also doing but she was the one that broke into mainstream first. It's all a matter of perspective.

I think a lot of Gaga fans are hung up on the visuals and that's partially Gaga's fault. Yes, her visuals were different and weird but, as time went by, her music became dated. She always said that she's a real musician, she's not just a popstar, but while the visuals indicated that the music was too common and mainstream. It's good to see her finally do something different and put the focus on the music for once.

Exactly, Mariah knew music was evolving at that point. Sometimes it doesn't stick, but eventually talent always wins.

Same with Gaga, I don't actually love everything she does but i'm going to focus on the things that i do like.

As an 08-er who loves her new direction, I'm happy to see ppl in the same boat. I always knew she was going to be the type of artist who would evolve before our very eyes, which is probably the number one reason I became a fan. It certainly wasn't to be served the same dish over and over again, no matter how delicious it was the first time. x

I've been a fan since the Paparazzi music video and I neither like nor dislike the current direction simply because there's isn't much to like or dislike. For me, PI is her best lead single since Bad Romance, so I'm happy with the music. However, the music video was a little difficult to watch just because the scenes were moving so fast it was 1. hard to know what was going on, and 2. difficult to see her body language during the performance. We also haven't had a properly filmed, HQ performance of PI yet, though I did enjoy the Moth one. I just with there was something bold about this era to get me interested. It could (or could not be) bold fashion, bold music video, bold performance art, etc. But we're only two weeks in, so I'm still hopeful something interesting will happen. If the era keeps going like this, I may start to regard Gaga as I regard Florence and Grimes, in that I absolutely love their music and concerts, but not enough interesting things happen for me to be on GGD several times a day looking and talking about what happened that day. But when all is said and done, I will always love Gaga no matter what.

I've been a monster since the beginning. I love her just as much now as I did 8 years ago. I love her for who she is and not just the wigs and quirky outfits. I get so excited for a new tour because going to the tours is like going to a family reunion. In all honesty, I could never leave her. She's been too good to me. She's always been there for me and she's loved me unconditionally like her own flesh and blood. A lot of people say the whole "mama monster" thing was a marketing gimmick but I disagree. It's something she takes to heart. I mean she got it permanently tattooed on her body plus she has a necklace that she wears that says the same thing. She's done nothing but stand by us and love us unconditionally, as if we were her own flesh and blood. She's taught me so much about life, love, and forgiveness. As I once said, not all super heroes wear capes. She'll always be my superhero. I'll stand my her until the day I die because she's always stood by me

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

No I don't think it's related. I've been a huge fan since 2008 and I'm really excited about the new direction. I don't want her to do the same pop hits with RedOne 'til the end of her career.

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?
