Fan since 2009. I don't really listen to a lot of pop music, so this doesn't bother me at all. I love Mariah though, and the fan meltdowns during Glitter and Charmbracelet (and even in the beginning of Mimi when radio didn't pick up Say Something) were faaaar worse than what's going on here now.

I think it might just be correlated to being people immature dicks or not.

People who don't like Perfect Illusion and the direction Gaga is going into, have the option to stay silent, log off and focus on other things. It's not that hard. But yet some are here, relentlessly trying to ruin everyone else's experience, having meltdowns over meltdowns over things as "She's worn the same boots twice in the row, I miss the old fashion Gaga that would never be caught without high heels. I don't care if she has broken her hips, she must suffer for my own entertainment."

It doesn't get more obvious in my opinion.

I've never really expected anything with each new era/album - minus what we gather from official hype/teases, because it always seems she's putting music out she's passionate about, and I know that'll mean some killer music. I'm all for fast bops and dance anthems, but I really enjoy PI a lot.  If there's something that's not in my aesthetic/taste on an album, I will just skip until I eventually find appreciation for it (or don't). Expectations, especially with someone as musically chameleonic as Gaga, just leaves fans with bruised souls and shattered dreams. :classy:

I love Mariah too! But I wasn't a fan during her rough times. How was it like? Could you expand it more? I'm definitely curious about this!

2008-2009 and I like her new direction.

Started being a fan in early 2009 after Just Dance took off here in the UK. Started properly a few months later.

These results are interesting but I wonder how many of the responses are honest.

Too much people lying about 2008-2009.

Not really, Gaga shot up to superstardom almost instantly at the beginning of her career. 2008-2009 fans are not rare as they would be for stars who had a slow-burn to fame.

Been a fan since LoveGame. It's not that I dislike the new direction and it's not like I completely like it either. It's what Gaga's delivering atm and it's fresh so I'm not sure how I feel but I'm okay with it... so I guess the first option it is? :laughga:

I became a stan in early 2010, when Telephone was released. I loved all the singles before that and had them all, I even saw the Paparazzi performance on the VMAs, but Telephone the song and video, made me a HUGE fan.

I am loving this new direction more than any of her previous. We will see how the album plays out but I'm sure I'll love it.

Early 2015 here :toofunny:

Even though I fell in love with her craziness, artistry and all that stuff, I love what she's doing right now! However, I can't help waiting for something eccentric in the nearest future, too.

I'm talking about visuals only. This woman can't make music that won't appeal to me, I'm sure

I became a fan in 2011, and I have to say that the direction she's taking right now is everything I ever wanted from her, the outfits, the attitude, the music, everything is slaying me so much. The only thing about this era that I don't completely love so far is the PI video, I like it a lot but it makes my head hurt sometimes.

She had a huge fanbase then, even in the early days of the internet forum.

Imagine getting #1's 11 years in a row before a spectacular burnout with Glitter. The film was released around September 11, and Loverboy controversially peaked at #2 with a discounted single. Her fans hated that she relied so much on rappers, and wanted the old Mariah back. With Charmbracelet, her label obviously wanted her to return a conservatively dressed diva singing power ballads, but Through The Rain bombed on the charts.

If you were a fan during the early days of Mimi, you would know that her label tried pushing Say Something before It's Like That became the official first single.

To put things in perspective... Rainbow, was considered a flop for MC but the album consistently sold 300k for 10 weeks in the US.

2008 and so far, I like it. I'm not CRAZY about Perfect Illusion the way I was during Born This Way, but I know that Gaga's lead singles are very different from the rest of the album sound (Except for Bad Romance), so I've gotten disappointed by some songs, in love with many others, but that's music. I honestly don't care if she releases a good or bad album, if I like it, I will listen to it, if I don't, I'll listen to other music and skip the songs I don't enjoy.

Perhaps. I became a fan (in 2009) because besides good music, she was something unique and special. She turned every piece of art into a pop culture event. She made her career like whatching a show

Now a more simple Gaga...

Sure shes talanted but tbh theres lots of artists you can find doing what shes doing especially underground artists

What Gaga was doing no one else was doing it on her scale. What shes doing now isnt as unique. :(
