Joanne: a reverse ARTPOP experience

I like ARTPOP, it's my 2nd favorite album just behind BTW.   It's interesting though how Joanne is shaping up to be nearly a polar opposite album.  ARTPOP explicitly aimed at a lot of visual elements, that was actually what the ART part of the name primarily referred to.  Koons, Wilson, et al brought some great visuals that era.   The music of course was very electronic.

This time the visual aesthetic is shaping up to be Spartan and understated, and the music more organic and natural and less overtly electronic in feel.   I don't think this means she is dis-owning any of her previous work, but she clearly is putting emphasis on her voice and music rather than visuals this time around, at least to this point.   We'll have to see how the campaign plays out.

I for one am looking forward to an era that is clearly focused on musical and vocal talent without as much visual distraction.   I think many people will appreciate this version of Gaga, where she isn't masked behind overwhelming visuals. Unfortunately many people have difficulty seeing behind the "flash", this time Gaga isn't hidden by anything.  She's out in the open musically, without what many consider to be "distractions."

It will be interesting to see how she is accepted.

It feels like Joanne fits the visuals she was serving when she announced Applause and the app, before a wild Koons appeared

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

To me this whole era is about the problem of how to define authenticity in an age where anything can be faked. These days anything can be commoditised and marketed as truth. Relationships, emotions, ideals, principles, heroes, villains, art, science, food. In fact our entire society is built upon trusting those who invariably will betray us one way or another. They'll always lead us astray, out to the middle of nowhere.

If ARTPOP was the vase, Joanne is the bouquet all covered in thorns.

fede ARTPOP

ARTPOP was a celebration after all this years, same as the tour...Gaga talked about this...

Thats why is rave, electronic music....it was a party that will never be forgotten. :flutter:

Joanne is a more natural Gaga, with a new direction musically, but doesnt mean Gaga is dead, is just a new chapter on the Lady Gaga journey. :flutter:

MAYHEM / ARTPOP
