Born Brave 2,072
I must say I am thoroughly enjoying reading everyone's reaction to this. I just want to say this... Fans begged her to make a TFM 2.0 and made a concise effort to do so "Your little sister says hello in glowsticks". ARTPOP ultimately did not do well commercially. Then everyone drags her and this and that and she's just sitting there like "Isn't this what you asked for?". This keeps reminding me of Pitch Perfect where the girl vomits all over the places and wants to redeem herself by singing "I saw the sign" all over again and not changing it up. What we are having here in the fanbase is similar. MOST of yall want the same old tired dance club banging hits that have no authenticity because its what you know and it's what you're comfortable with. IF Gaga were to just make more dance synthpop music it would sound tired and (RE)DONE) (yes I made a pun) Personally I think Perfect Illusion is about her relationship with this fanbase and her past work and ARTPOP metaphorically. Gaga mentioned a while back that a revolution was coming. Even in the music video you can sense it. She made a very clear point to make sure everyone knew that PI was not indicative of LG5's sound.. Granted she said Interscope picked the single, but RedOne also said that the lead single changed some time ago so that doesn't make sense at all. Frankly I am going to be so glad to see some of you go. The negativity is toxic. If you have an artistic vision for a great dance album that sounds like 2008- go find an agent, record demos, work your ass off and get a record deal like Gaga did. THEN you can go make your own album. She has paid her dues. When you supported her in the past it was not a contractual obligation. Please im begging you. Leave. Go cut your own album. (Pop is so easy that Paris Hilton can do it). Everyone screams "Gaga please come save the music industry".. Well, here she is. Saving the day. If it doesn't chart or have success who gives a flying ****. I am going to buy the album 4x over and give it to my friends and family like I have with every Gaga album. I will attend the tour. I will watch the videos. I'll probably cover some of the songs.. Top 40 radio has not been indicative of quality since the late 2000s. Right now unless you're a thug rapping about being a thug or unless you're heavily autotuned or fake you're not going to smash hard on the charts. For gods sake ADELE didn't even have tremendous single / chart success with 25. PS Ya'll bashing on Country because you want commercial success.. check the facts. The best selling female album of ALL TIME is by a country artist. Come on Over by Shania Twain in 1997. This is going to be Gaga's best work.

I can only generalize or correct false information for the sake of the album being falsely represented. Straying away from it altogether though due to mixed messages. I will say that it is a beautiful album overall and we all have some great times to look ahead to Please just say yes or no, is there a Moroder song on this album??! What I said were my honest thoughts, didn't offend anyone nor did I cross the line. But the bitter-bettys (you, the other queen who quoted me and whoever liked those posts) are pressed, you're seething and it's radiating till here 😆 Gurl if you believe that 'I think I'm special' by saying "I'll buy the album once I hear it" (cuz the last material didn't seem so promising to me), sorry you got the perspective wrong, I didn't get too high, you got too low that you don't even realize it. I'm not obligated to blindly buy the album if I didn't like it, and this is how its supposed to be (unless I read the manual wrong then maybe yes, I'm special ). If you didn't like what I said pass it.

Go into the album as open as you can I'm not concerned with Ronson at all, he's a musical genius and I welcome any song that he touches into my life. But if she has a vault with work done with Elton, Diane, Moroder, Rogers, etc. and I don't hear it I'LL RIOT. I can't wait to hear Joanne. I need to feed my soul with an album of substance, and that's what I'm hoping Joanne is for me.

Totally. I also believe that Americana would be more appropriate for the description of Joanne. From what I've been hearing.. for those of you that don't know what Americana is: Americana is an amalgam of American folk music formed by the confluence of the shared and varied traditions that make up the musical ethos of the United States; specifically those sounds that are merged from folk, country, blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll and other external influences.[1] Americana, as defined by theAmericana Music Association (AMA), is "contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues, resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres upon which it may draw. While acoustic instruments are often present and vital, Americana also often uses a full electric band."[2]

This is a forum to discuss Gaga's music. Every single time someone states they are displeased with some of Gaga's work, people like you start whining about "toxic negativity". The only thing that's toxic, is some people not being able to handle different opinions. If you are offended by what some users say, just deal with it! That's the way it is. And you playing the "if you can't do it better than PersonX, then don't say anything against him/her" card is ridiculous. I hope you know that. If we would take this as a guideline, we wouldn't even be allowed to say anything positive about Gaga's music, because we can't judge it as we are not better than her, right? Oh well, so toxic. It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead.

For me, it's more about people writing off Gaga just because they heard the term "country". We don't even know what the album will sound like and people are already jumping ship. There's also the ignorance of what country music even is.

Beyonce samples other genres like rock (Don't Hurt Yourself) and country (Daddy Lessons), but the album as a whole is still R&B/pop. I really hope fans keep an open mind about these details. Sometimes genre bending can lead to truly amazing work.
TropicOfCANCER 6,292
just because a song has acoustic guitars doesn't make it country. I'm sure by "country" the person meant folk/americana and even then, through a pop filter.
