What matters is how people perceive you regardless of what the numbers say and people view Beyonce as a legend and will always remember her work even if they dont listen to her songs so she will always be reminded in history unlike Katy who has #1's yet people dont view her as something important. If you want to compare all that to Gaga, well Gaga's name is bigger than her career so people might know that name yet know nothing about her and if they know a song, it would be Poker Face or Just Dance. I doubt that people know Beyonce more than Gaga. I mean even Gaga won a record Guiness award for most famous person in the world. And Beyonce has never toured in several countries Gaga has. Music 15,215
i mean, i know this isn't a major source to go by, but Google Trends declares that Gaga's peak, March 2010, is unbeaten by any of the other musicians listed. Adele is the only other artist to climb near her peak in November 2015. Lady Gaga, at her peak, was the world's most recognised and acknowledged artists. Everyone knows Beyonce just like everyone knows Michael Jackson and Madonna its just a name that everyone knows and they give that name its respect regardless of weather they know her work or not but when you bring up Lady Gaga, they know the name and might make a joke about it and name one of her old songs but nobody actually knows her or her work Worldwide specially if you are over 20. The thing is Gaga has die hard fans all over the world just like these old Rock N Roll artists that never had a charted songs or are present in the mainstream but their fans are what kept them going selling millions of their tickets on tour and now they are part of history and I think thats what will happen to Gaga. zakariah 11,718
I think they all have had certain elements from Gaga's peak but I think only maybe Taylor & Adele have come close to touching Gaga's peak.

BloodyJudas 2,758
All of these pop stars mentioned above are far more popular than Gaga now and when you think about them, you associate them with success. I see so many people here taking credit away from Katy Perry. She is one of the biggest pop stars now and her peak is yet to come with her upcoming album. Everyone knows who she is , she has 2 videos that has been seen more than one billion times, she is now a touring force, her song may not be iconic but they are recognized by the GP (I Kissed A Girl, Hot N Cold, California Gurls, Firework, E.T., Roar, Dark Horse). If she evolves and continues slaying , she will be on her way to be a pop legend, let's be honest. She is as big worldwide as Gaga and that's a fact. Beyonce is already a legend, she established her household name many years ago, people may not necessarily purchase her music but they will go to her concerts and have fun with her bops. She has always been a touring force, she is taken seriously as an artist, she enjoys the adulation from the GP, her albums sales have never underperformed ( 4 has sold better than most of Rihanna's albums ). She is big worldwide. Adele breaks all the records, people do not love her, they worship her!!! She is a phenomenon. She only stands in front of the crowd and sings her tunes and that's what she does the best. People seem to be really into it. She might have reached her peak releasing "Hello" but she will still continue to shine. If she keeps up with her level of fame and recognition, she will outsell all of the popstars we are talking about. She is bigger worldwide that Gaga has ever been. She might be the next legend in the making Taylor has become a worldwide act with RED but ever since she released 1989, she has been horribly successful and artistically acclaimed. She got raving reviews, her tour was just a sheer box office success, but she still needs some time to cement her legacy. If she impresses with her upcoming work, she might be the biggest pop star in the world, but she needs to prove it. She is becoming a big name in the business worldwide. I think all of the pop stars mentioned above are or will become music legends at some point despite the fact that many monsters hate them for no apparent reason. SlaeUrAnus 15,955
Taylor has in the States, but Gaga was a worldwide phenomenon in 2010. Not just one country. Katy is too 'basic' (no shade). She is too afraid to step into the unknown that will get her the acclaim that Gaga is renowned for. Beyonce and Adele are the only two compatible artists imo. The only artist that is selling many albums in this generation is Adele. I mean, 20m sold in less than a year for 25 for the decade of streaming? That is incredible. However, Beyoncé is something different. Even if the singles from Lemonade are not doing well on YouTube, she is still selling albums and performing to sold out stadiums across the globe. In my messy era.
AlexanderMagno 10,746
Adele has. Sales wise, popularity wise... Taylor has amazing sales but popularity wise, meh. Katy is popular and sells but is no pop culture power. Beyoncé, I don't know she gets the recognition, the popularity, but the sales are average. MrBear 243
Does it even matter? They all are big in some way. Taylor Swift: Totally overrated to me. Nothing special about her. She may write good songs but that's it. Katy Perry: Take away her looks (which is a matter of taste anyway) and she will be nothing compared to Gaga. Sales are important, yes, but what else has she accomplished? No voice, no real talent in my opinion. Adele: Great voice. That's it. The music sounds all the same to me. I like her, her music not so much. Beyonce: She might be closest to Gaga in my eyes. She can dance and sing (although I like Gaga's voice 10000x better) and has been around as a solo Artist since 2003? But in the end it will always be Gaga for me: incredibly talented, one of the best voices, versatile (Pop, Rock, Jazz, Dance and more) and from what I see and hear a kind and caring, down to earth woman. There is a reason why so many big names support her and work with her. But in the end sales and awards matter most for most of the people Just my humble opinion, didn't want to insult any of them with this.
Zorrotek 285
Um, yes? Adele with "Hello", Taylor Swift with her 1989 era and Beyoncé, because she's Beyoncé. With Katy, idk, i feel like even if she gets 5 more #1's, she'll never be taken seriously as a legend, it's the quality of her music that discredits all of her achievements. Just an opinion tho.
