I want all of you to try this...

Now, before we get started, open your minds a little to trying something new.

I want all of you to think back 7 years. If you're under 23, think back 4 years instead. Count your age backwards, and remember who you were back then.

Remember how you dressed, how you spoke and your common phrases, how you would treat other people, the kind of music you were interested in, the kind of TV shows you watched, the things you used to find funny. Think about your old friends and what you used to do together, your old relationships, think about what you did for fun, and what you were proud of, think about everything you loved and hated.

Are you the same still? Do you like that person? Is your life still in the exact same place? Do you still have the same friends, same intertests, hobbies, things you do for fun? Do the same things inspire you that used to? Do you (honestly) still strive to be that same person you were back then, all these years later? Would you be happy walking around as that exact same person, in 2016?

Answer these to yourself honestly. You don't have to respond to this thread. And I know it's obvious where I'm taking this... and if you rolled your eyes and didn't answer honestly, I ask that you please just scroll back up and try again, and really think about it.

Now, why do you think some people expect differently of Gaga?

I know for one that I've changed  almost completely as a person, even in the past 4 years. The same things don't inspire me, and the same things don't irritate me. I have a totally different outlook on life now than I did back then, and it's changed completely how I act, dress, walk, talk, and what I do with my time and even the kind of art I like.
Some things that I used to do and say, I'm embarrassed about now. Some things that held no value to me, now hold a lot. The same things don't light my fire now, that once did. BUT, other things do. And I'm very happy with who I am now and how I've changed. I've lost friends because I've changed as a person, and they've changed in different ways, but I feel like I'm a better person for these changes.

All people change over time. It's probably the hardest life lesson that we all learn (which we aren't taught about when we're young), and sometimes it's the hardest thing to accept. It's a lesson I've learned time and time again. And some people grow together, and some apart. It is what it is. And as much as Gaga strutted around like an otherworldly creature years ago, she is actually a human being, and experiences life, and changes as such. She experiences these changes just as we all do. Because she is one of us. A human, a person, a woman, living on planet earth having an ongoing experience.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I've changed so much in the past six months alone. I'm more centred and at peace with myself than I've ever been and I haven't been happier for it.

Its easy to forget things like this when you're talking about a public figure, but they're human too and should be treated with the same respect as all of us.

Well, he was in a rock band, which technically makes him a musician. Not to mention, digital production is still considered a method in composition, which still makes him a musician.

Wow...you honestly just took me into a journey of my past. I'm sitting here getting emotional wtf. For real though this gave me a different outlook about how Gaga has changed too. I'm nostalgic for the past but thankful for where I am today...Thank you:hug:

Very well said :applause:

As someone who's over 30, I can say that I'm not the same person I was back in my early 20s. So I don't get why people expect Gaga to stay the same. Maybe it's because a lot of people in this fanbase are still very young and have a lot of growing up to do.

7 years ago,  I used to not stan anyone, have cartoon crushes, and only watch anime.  :toofunny:

Now I still watch anime but with a healthy mix of shows with real people so I'm not totally detached from humanity.

I am glad I found Gaga. Such a wonderful person to admire and like!

This post actually made me reflect more on my life but I resort to comedy when it's getting too real. :wtf: (what have i been doing in my life)

I was 25, I worked and lived abroad, and doing the final half of my 20s and it was awesome.

I have changed but changed to the good, and entering my 30s with confidence.

So definitely I don't hate my past self at all, thank to words of wisdom my Dad used to tell me,

"whatever you want to do, make sure it will make your future self proud." and that's exactly what I did.
