Would you say Perfect Illusion is addictive like a drug?

I have noticed a lot of comments about Perfect Illusion being described as like a drug where the listener can't stop listening to it because they are addicted.

For me personally it's a good description for me because I can't get the song out of my head and I feel like I need to listen to it often to get my fix. I cannot get enough of it! And it seems to be the same for other people.

Perfect Illusion seems unique in that not many people loved it to start with and the ones who didn't love it now suddenly do it after it grew on them. The phrase "it will grow on you" has been brandished about ever since the song was released and it seems that Gaga deliberately designed it to be a grower because she wanted it to get inside our heads. I don't think it's coincidental that she references drugs in PI. 'Dilated, falling free' couldn't be more apt words for that part of the song. Perhaps she made a mistake by not calling this particular track 'Modern Ecstasy' instead of 'Perfect Illusion'.

It got me wondering, is this how the whole album is going to be? What if the title for LG5 is in fact 'Modern Ecstasy' and even if it isn't, what if she has designed the album to be unique in that the structure is completely different in every song to form the listener to become addicted so each song itself is like a drug.

I could be talking rubbish but I think it's an interesting theory to consider. And to be honest wishful thinking on my part. If Gaga can get me hooked on every track like she has with Perfect Illusion I will be so happy I could literally ****ing die. :firega:

Btw, I am aware that not everybody feels the same way as me and that there are some that still don't like it. Trust me, it will grow on you and you will be addicted like the rest of us soon.

Yes.

Yes!! I promo it by blasting the song on repeat from my car speakers. And turn it up extra loud when I notice windows are down!! Some guy today was actually jamming to the song.

i actually had to stop listening to it for a little for fear of overplaying it. it's pretty repetitive so i'm scared i'll be ready for a new single in a week or two :rip:

i honestly think the "addictive" part of listening to it just has to do with the fact that we haven't gotten pop music from her in 3 years so we're thirsty af

It's pretty weird in my case because I can't get it out of my head and I want to sing it all the time but I do not want to listen to it that much. I just like singing it.

Perfect Illusion is catchy in the way Poker Face was, except on steroids. It makes no apologies.

But you wanna know another gem that Im equally hooked on? And trust me this one came out of left field for me.....

I don't know whether it's just because it is a new Gaga song and I have been so keen for it for so long now, or if it's because the song is just that relentless and catchy, but I literally feel a need to play it multiple times a day. I find all my other songs boring in comparison at the moment - it's really weird actually. Can't remember it being the case with Applause or BTW.
