Free My Mind 2,209 Posted September 10, 2016 Share Posted September 10, 2016 In the spoiler below are lots of things that could have made PI a bigger hit Spoiler - Pitch corrected vocals - Less Rocky vocals - A dance drop - A hooky prechorus - The bridge louder and more prominent (that ****'s catchy) - Safer lyrics BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT IT'S ABOUT. This time round Lady Gaga is doing what she wants, this is what she wants the song to sound like. And if a song doesn't sound like what the artist wants it to, they can't make a personal connection. When Bad Romance dropped, it wasn't safe - that wasn't what was on the radio. When Born This Way dropped, it was outrageously different to what was on the radio. The times that Gaga has done best, it's been when she's following her heart. If she did all those things it would sound just like everything else at the moment. I hear these songs lately (Closer, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, etc, etc). To me they all sound so similar. Even Britney's new album has a lot of the same sounds as other songs I have heard. I'm not saying they are bad it's just a lot of the same. I'm glad Gaga is doing something different again. The album sounding like this + Red & Blue. A tour at maybe small venues more intimate... perhaps moshpits. I'm here for Rock Gaga and always have been. I like Red & Blue better than FAME. I want a whole album like this song. I love her voice in rock influenced pop. She kills it. I could give a damn if the song never even makes it into the top 100. This is the best Gaga has ever been to me. It's like her new debut. I hope she even screams on the album Gaga + Bring Me The Horizon = heaven. I agree with this. This thread is great. Gaga is constantly changing and evolving not only as a person but her music as well. I'm glad that she's willing to take risks and follow her own instincts instead of listening to what her label wants her to do as I'm sure they'd have wanted her to make more songs a la The Fame/Monster.
