Fiona Apple 13,006 Posted September 9, 2016 Share Posted September 9, 2016 So now that the hype left my head,I can give an actual opinion on the song xD VOCALS: I think that vocally it's one of her best songs ever.I love the raw vocals at most parts and it's her first single in years that actually shows her voice. Lyrics:I wish the song had more lyrics and it's a bit more repetitive than what I'd like it to be but it's definitely a well written song Melody:I love the melody on the verses ,the chorus is a bit too simple? for my taste,I actually thought it was the pre chorus the first time I listened to the song But it's not bad at all.I'd like a stronger bridge Production:I really really like the production.The ONLY thing I don't like is how low the vocals sound on the bridge.I'd love them to be a bit louder. OVERALL: An undeniably good song that actually showcases her voice and it's memorable enough. Is it a good choice for a lead single? I really don't know.But I really can't picture a song like that SMASHING to be absolutely honest.. Particularly with men (straight) she will gain new fans. I think its more catchy then applause and is more memorable and striking and that encompasses Gaga as a whole. It's one of my favorite Gaga songs of all time and I wish she'd incorporated more lyrics making the song a bit longer with a proper buildup to the chorus. The vocal IS the music here and if you follow it, the song proves itself. It takes a few listens to get it but once ya do....it's ON!
