(and forgive me, I know it's not "hilarious" or anything, I'm just trying to make a point with a little humor, lol) On August 17, 2016, Lady Gaga met with radio DJ's from around the globe for a very important closed door meeting. Lady Gaga: Thank you guys so much for coming here today. I'm here to share a few things with you that are very important to all of us. First, thank you for checking all your phones at the door. I know it was a pain in the ass, but hopefully it was worth it because I am going to give you guys an exclusive first listen to my new single, Perfect Illusion in just a few moments. But before we listen, we need to make an agreement. If I play this for you now, I need you guys to PROMISE me that you will hype the living **** out of the song for the next 3 weeks on Twitter. Sound good? Audience: [mumbles yes in agreement] Lady Gaga: [shouting in Monster Ball voice] I SAID "DOES THAT SOUND ****ING GOOD?!" Audience: YES, MOTHER OMFG Lady Gaga: Ok, good. Here's how it will go down... I'm not going to say a god damn WORD other than "September." The Monsters will lose their f-cking minds. And then a week before it drops, I'm going to "leak" the September 9th release date on the back end of my website where my fans will surely find it. And then they'll go completely ape sh-t. Once that happens, I need all of you to confirm the date to them on Twitter. But remember, this conversation NEVER HAPPENED. OK? Audiences: [nods their heads vigorously in agreement] Lady Gaga: And let me tell you, this will benefit all of you just as much as it does me. We all know online streaming has made your stations pretty f-cking irrelevant by this point. But you also know that I can't get to #1 without your airplay. I need you. You need me. By not confirming the date, I will have those Little Monsters THIRSTY AS F-CK. Once all of you start hyping them, they will be retweeting you like crazy and you will get Twitter followers by the THOUSANDS. And most of them will be glued to your stations to hear the premiere instead of waiting to hear it online. It's a win-win for all us. Everybody in?
