Japan warns UK: Companies would leave UK over Brexit

if you are happy with the current situation thank EU because as @Caesium explained the real impact will only reveal itself in a few years. The only change that Brexit has done so far was near 10% drop of Britains pound, so congratulations on that achievement. 

It's not just a random threat that the companies will move their headquarters elsewhere it's a fact because it will be financially unreasonable for them to stay in the UK. Your government will either try to remain as close to EU as possible (pretty much leaving things as they are right now which will prove Britains dependency on EU) or ruin their own economy with new restrictions to foreign companies, etc.

Japan isn't going to pick up and leave anytime soon. They know which side their bread is buttered. They've got too much investment in the UK to just relocate, they're basically just saying we want you to consider us and promise not to harm our investment when making the Brexit arrangements. 

Maybe even a little bit of jealousy over the UKs increasing relationship with China. Idle threats really. 

What concerns me more is the lack of direction our government have. May has yet to announce anything regarding immigration except she wants to have border controls and shrugs off a point based system and still hasn't formed any plan on if we are to become apart of the WTO or any other alternative for that matter.

It's delusional to think that just because your future job is not in imports/exports it will have no impact on you. All people will earn less and prices for imported products will rise. House prices will stay flat for a few years, especially in London. Companies will move out. Government deficit will rise, leading to higher public debt and/or cuts in spending (less healthcare spending, less education spending) and/or tax hikes (which will impact everybody, too).

 

Good for Japan, but they should've issued this warning beforehands. The damage is already done. I hope the UK economy will be damaged to convince even more people that staying in the EU is the right thing. I also see the UK leaving the EU as a great chance for the EU. Finally a military union and foreign policy union can be made. Possibly the EU could become the biggest world power together with the US thanks to the UK leaving.

i even read London wanted to be independent after leave won 

it's just like here in Spain, conservative old right wing population from the central territories ruin the future for the young population living in the cities where the culture is

well most of the cities in the country are in the west midlands, so it was just London and Scotland that wanted to remain and the rest wanted to leave.

It would be ridiculous to pull out of the U.K. now as it would do more damage to those businesses than the U.K.

I think it's quite important we reach a sensible trade agreement with the EU but it's no biggy if we don't considering the future of the EU isn't looking all that good anyway.

My city (and me) voted to remain and it's not London or in Scotland. 

Even though I voted remain and still believe we should have stayed, I'm not phased by leaving. It could easily turn out to have been the best choice if the EU doesn't get it's sh*t together.

This is all hypothesis. There's current talks about forming a trade agreement with the EU as it is in both of their best interest. Companies will not pull out and if they do it will be minimal. Australia has been extremely supportive of setting up a trade agreement and the UKs budding relationship with China shows great expectation. 

As for import tax being higher that is only if we become apart of the WTO causing a 10% increase which May doesn't seem likely to opt for despite it being the easiest and fastest solution but not necessarily the right one. 

As for the EU being a better place. Hopefully. I wouldn't wish any demise on a country. However Britain has a very strong military and does not need or want to be apart of a military union. That would be an incredibly terrible thing to happen for this country. There is a reason the US and the UK have worked alongside each other and why our weaponary is always regarded as the highest quality unlike the remainer of the EU nations. 

I voted to remain however all is not lost if we choose to push Article 50. It may be the best thing that has happened to our country. You can wish ill fate and economic depreciation as much as you want but as of now your argument, like every other, is based solely on hypothesis.
