isnt the reason why so many bland songs have been going to #1 (or at least have constant airplay) because of iHeartRadio's "On the Verge" system?

like they look for ppl to feature on all of their radio stations and bump their airplay? like isnt that what happened with Iggy Azuzu? they basically force these songs down our throats and breed mediocrity in the GP :toofunny:

i guess what im saying is it shouldnt be hard for PI to go #1 cos itll most likely outshine most songs that we have been curated to listen to

Hence why Gaga should kiss their ass and be their best friend in the whole world, constantly promote them on social media, send them gifts, go on their shows, give them exclusives, perform at all their functions (the festival, the pool party, their award show) and anything else she can possibly thing of. Maybe even release a song called  "Iheart Radio" but that might be a little much.

I disagree.

playing along with the industry can be really damaging, physically and emotionally for an artist. and i dont want her getting depressed over something so superficial :ohno:

i believe the fans and gp should request her music. it shows we dont need their help telling us what music to listen to.

Requests don't work, it's been proven everytime an artist releases music and radio ignores requests. They don't work because fans spam them for new releases and now radios don't trust them as much as they once did.

Now, I'm not saying she should dos anything that makes her uncomfortable and if she doesn't wanna do it, then that's fully understandable. But it would be extremely beneficial to her era to have radio on her side. And the fact she did a private show for a popular radio station shows she might be for it.

Keep in mind, most of things I mentioned aren't really bad things either. Have someone else tweet out in support of them and send them gifts. Performing at festivals and award shows is good promo anyway, same with radio interviews. It's little things like this that make radio stations wanna play songs like Perfect Illusion.

Maybe Iheart Radio can even get a deal with Gaga's tour

BuzzcutSeason

I tried to make this thread a few days ago. No offense but so many Little Monsters are in denial.

I hope no ones super let down when the chart gets released.

still sounds like she has to prostitute herself for the industry to put her back on a pedestal

radio stations should be blasting her music because its good and people like it not because shes kissing their asses and playing along with their games

its like theyre saying, "u want us to play ur record? come make million$ for us at a festival first"

i guess the real issue i have is with iheartradio and their setup :/ but hey, if she can play the game then i say she go for it

Yeah, I see ur point. However, radio support can make a lot of difference. For example, look at Britney's 2001 album "Britney". Britney upset Clear Channel, so they boycotted her music and didn't play it. This led to her worst performing singles on the chart and hurt album sales. Britney was much bigger in 2001 then Gaga was in 2016 and they still almost ruined her career. The only way she got back on the era was going back to clear channel.

Now back to Gaga, if she is okay with doing things for Iheart radio, her career will benefit. More people will hear her music. More albums sold. More tickets sold. More hype for the next era. Since she gave a radio station a private concert, it seems she's more then ready to play the game.

Im glad too, I don't socialize much with people irl, so it's nice to chat here. I don't think this is a toxic site per say tho. I've had many gr8 conversations.

Anyway, just so you don't misunderstand me on this, I'm not saying she needs to do all this for radio play. She could still end up with it even without doing any of this. I'm just saying she'll get more radio play and more radio promo, if she does things for them. It'd be more of a business partnership then her kissing their ass, I should've worded it like that too start with.

Stfu!! It may not debut at #1 but could become a sleeper hit, how long did it take just dance? And believe me JD had more 'people that aren't deluded like you' the owner of this thread, yet it has sold 7m+

I don't think that just because Closer is doing so well right now is a sign that it'll reign endlessly for the next 1.5 months or anything. Here's the reign of each Billboard #1 this year (not including Hello as that started reigning in 2015):

Sorry - 3 weeks

Love Yourself - 2 weeks (non-consecutive)

Pillowtalk - 1 week

Work - 9 weeks

Panda - 2 weeks

One Dance - 10 weeks (non consecutive)

Can't Stop The Feeling! - 1 week

Cheap Thrills - 4 weeks

Closer - 2 weeks (currently)

Two one-week #1's in one year is quite unusual for the American market, as is non-consecutive weeks. 6 out of the 9 #1's have had 3 weeks or less at the top. That suggests that Gaga could have a chance. I'm not expecting anything but nothing's impossible. It's a Mark Ronson collab - that'll make sure radio's interested in it. This will be Gaga's comeback and lately, the industry have been into them, what with Adele and Justin (both of them, really). Gaga's team seems to know what they're doing this time. I'm not going to underestimate them.
