No VMAs, GMA or Apple Music Festival for Perfect Illusion?

Lol, I swear this thread. The single comes out in September. VMAs are in August. Why would she perform it weeks before it is released? A single is NOT an album. There is no lead up. The SINGLE is the lead up.

I feel like we'd even get this thread if the song was released in November. "Song comes out in November, why doesn't she have a VMA performance booked?"

She'll promote the song, trust me. But not until its out. Just cause she's done it in the past, does not mean a lead single has to go hand in a hand with an awards show performance.

The backlash is real. :toofunny: Sounds like some of you are just pressed that Gaga's not gonna do sh!t this era. :toofunny:

Sounds like you're just trying to compensate for this ridiculously moronic thread.

I know it seems like these are misses, but Gaga had so much time to plan this promotion knowing what not to repeat from 2013. We must to keep our faith strong.

Promo isn't everything. Sometimes it even does more damage than good. After the BTW era, everyone was sick of Gaga because she was overexposed. And like someone else mentioned, she did plenty of promo for Applause and ARTPOP and that didn't keep the album from underperforming.

Let's just wait until the single is out and see what happens. No need to panic just yet.

In all fairness to ARTPOP tho, it sold 600k plus in 2013 but promo stopped in 2014. If promo had continued and more singles were (properly) released, then the album would've sold more and maybe even hit 1m in the US

I think if this album is gonna be different, she might have decided to stay away from the pop-sphere for the first time ever (excluding C2C).

We might see her be more of a niche artist this time around. She seems pretty fed up with pop music and the hectic, regulated industry. So she might we become more indie.

The other possibility is that she's planning lots of secret promotion, maybe even doing something different to TV and festival type performances.

Who knows! We'll just have to keep our minds open to anything and see what happens!

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

P.S. maybe she's even purposely avoiding the VMAs because she wants to step away from the pop world. But she's using the post-VMAs, pop-world buzz to remind people she exists before showing them a different side. Maybe she'll just be in the audience, or even present, and the GP/pop fans will go "oh yeah, Lady Gaga exists, what is she doing these days? I'll have to Google her" and in the next few weeks while talking about the VMAs will say "oh yeah and Lady Gaga was there! But she didn't even perform! She has a new single out next week though"

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

It was the end of an album cycle - in which everything that could've gone wrong did happen - and the public was simply tired of her...not to mention it's not her best song or video...she could've promoted it any way she wanted, it would still do poorly commercially...

I agree with everything but what I bolded. Idk if youre among those that find G.U.Y. "generic" or whatever but the truth of the matter is that that **** was at least a top 3 waiting to happen, at least. Under the right circumstances that banger would've blasted the charts and radio play. Because its insanely catchy and while I dont care for the spoken word portions, its one of her best blatant top 40 pandering pop singles imo (i.e. blatant top 40 = lovegame, poker face, telephone, etc). In fact its almost foolish to me that it was not the lead.

The reason is because there are many signs pointing to a VMA performance. For example, Marc Jacobs tweeting about something coming soon, with a pic of Gaga and a pic of the VMA stage. Even the insider Remark who i personally believe MIGHT be right, said that he would delete his acocunt if she didnt perform (not a credible source but he has been right a couple times in the past). Plus it was originally planned for an apple exclusive (maybe in august), and wordwide release could be 3 days later in Sept? and finally, maybe its a perfect illusion:lolga:

Besides Apple Music, we've had nothing but thirsty conspiracies. She is missing this stuff but honestly, if she's doing stuff at her own pace then let her. I'm sure they have their own plan to promote.

Hey in Gagas defense G.U.Y wasn't a good song as soon as I heard the album I knew it should have stayed with donatella, fashion! and mjh but instead it served as a 3rd single. And Venus was right there waiting to explode

Don't come for G.U.Y. sis. Just don't do it.

OT: I'm sure she'll promote things once the song is out. Over saturating the market with 50 different performances (an exaggeration) can turn off many listeners and put her back in the same spot as ARTPOP

To be honest I don't see any other big promo spots in September that the ones she skipped...
