Last time we had such a huge and destructive earthquake was in 2001. I can't remember it too well but the chaos was awful and people were so scared afterwards.

I rather she announced it herself via twitter that she's donating instead of keeping it "private" before her management leaks it to the press to make her seem like a saint. She's sending thoughts and prayers and letting us know she's doing even more than that and actually physically helping them

The main point is she donates for good cause whether public or private!,, what's your problem?

Not really. It might encourage others to help out as well. 

Clearly many of us did NOT interpret it that way and I don't think Gaga is doing this to serve herself.

Oh I don't think she means to be, I'm saying it comes off that way, to many people. Replace always with often, sure. Also don't think this community is the best litmus test for interpreting Gaga's tweets, ha. In the end, it doesn't really matter, obviously.
