I just think not every song has to like shatter pop music to be good. It can be sonically pleasing, fun and wonderful even if it's trendy

Nah it's boring for me and that beat annoys the hell out of me...

Everything sounds the same :emma: with a few exceptions. This song feels so unnatural and dead, made for the charts, forgetting what an actual good song is.

I just don't get that from it at all. It sounds so vibrant and alive to me :sharon: just a matter of taste lol

Tell me, what do you picture when you hear that song? Perhaps I can get into that mindset...

You ever been on a tropical getaway? A nice roadtrip on a sunny day with your closest friends? The feeling of being legitimately carefree even just for a few days? Those are the images I have when I hear tropical house/dance hall. Again, this is the trend. Which is why it's doing great.

meh it just sounds like a grown up version of what Bieber's doing (What Do U Mean, Sorry, Cold Water) except the production after the chorus is bland

What's boring and annoying for some is enjoyable and fun for others, you know? Given that it's so popular, there's a lot of people on both sides lol

I love it tbh

It's not groundbreaking but I don't think it's supposed to be. Either way is a perfect summer song. It's funny these DJs come up with better generic songs than pop stars like Britney Spears.

I'm obviously old.  At first I thought you meant NIN, and I was like "WTF are you talking about?  One of the greatest songs of all time...."

video NSFW btw....

It sounds like it would grow on me. but, it's pretty average to me. That's how it is for me with most songs on pop radio right now tho :nails:

I agree that it's lifeless. It's just so insipid. I don't understand how it's huge, but then I look at a lot of what's been high on the charts and it fits right in.

I want to like it so badly, but I just can't feel it. It simply is not a good song. I don't get why people love it so much that it goes to no. 1 on the charts...

The beat is limp and dead. The melody is tiring. The vocals aren't remarkable. It's just a bland and uninteresting song as a whole. Is it even EDM? You sure as hell can't dance to that...

If you like this song tell me what do you like about it. What do you picture when you hear that song?

I can't agree more. And I am a huge Halsey fan. This one just doesn't do it for me.

I disagree. I find it relatable. I love it. The lyrics are actually deep for a edm track, while making the track fun.

i really want to support this song because everyone's attacking halsey for getting a #1 but ever since the first time i heard it i knew i will never get to like that song.

surprisingly the instrumental for the most part is just unpleasant to listen to, i'm sure it varies for others though. chainsmokers have recently delivered some great songs so this particular one is truly underwhelming. the lyrics also seem very rushed and weak and halseys solo material so far is way superior to her collaborations (The feeling, Closer).

regardless of whether i consider it a good song if it reached a #1 then good for them. as far as i know it's a first for both even if they had better songs for that number one spot.
