Bad Romance was debuted on a fashion show (it leaked also ), Gaga sang a snippet of Born This Way at the VMAs and tweeted the full lyrics some days before the release and Applause ""leaked"". We can also extend it to albums when Gaga showed a bunch of snippets of BTW and ARTPOP before the albums were officially out too. But those were Troy's days and we don't know how Bobby's approach will be like. During the pre-LG5 era, Gaga barely revealed any info besides those cryptic emojis and a few recurrent words, much less than before. So, now, how much of Perfect Illusion will we know before it is out? Is she going to release snippets? Perform the full song somewhere? Post lyrics? Nothing at all? I don't think snippets would be wise cuz people would freak out too early and that steals hype away from the actual release. Performing it without releasing is probably the worst... While ARTPOP is probably my favorite albums of her's, the fact that so many official snippets and previews were available before the album was released kinda tainted it for me. Like, I'd heard almost the entire album in some form by the time it was actually released, whether it was from snippets, her iTunes Festival performance, or promo singles. Love that she isn't taking that approach this time around, I much prefer getting everything in one powerful go than staggered releases that don't pack quite as big a punch by themselves.
