Spoiler

I know this list was released in June, but I tried making the list back then and it didn't work. It finally worked now.

"The year of the "surprise release" has given us monster showings from Beyoncé, Radiohead, Drake, Rihanna, Kanye West and Chance the Rapper. But traditional release schedules have brought a wealth of music from hard-rhyming hip-hoppers, buzzy indie-punks, up-and-coming country songwriters, veteran Hall of Famers and more. Here's the best from New Year's Day to now."

Top 10:

10: Mitsky- Puberty2

9: Sturgill Simpson- A Sailors Guide To Earth

8: Parquet Courts- Human Performance

6: Chance The Rapper- Coloring Book

There's obviously been better albums created than Lemonade this year.

That's just ridiculous.

And legitimate question, would David Bowie's album have been this praised if he was alive?

Just now, Ibo said:

Glad to see Anti up there, Rihanna definitely delivered this time around. :applause:

I forgot how good the album actually is. I haven't listened to it for so long, but I did today, and it deserves whatever acclaim comes it's way!

I disagree with your first point, but that's your opinion, and the second point, well no I don't think it would have been praised had he not died after. Sad but true...

It just shows me that PR is an important part of becoming critically praised.

His death was part of the album in a way. The song "Lazarus" alone...the guy knew his days were numbered and that's what adds such a bittersweet depth to it and makes it worthy of the praise imo.

OT: I honestly don't recognize most the albums on the list :emma: in the top ten, I've only heard TLOP, Anti, and Lemonade and Anti's really the only one I still listen to. Still, I pretty much agree with their choices.

You're stinky
