Muslim woman mistaken for terrorist sues Chicago Police Dep

A Muslim woman is suing clueless Chicago cops after they misidentified her as a “lone wolf” terrorist, ripped off her hijab and face veil, exposing her while they performed a humiliating public search.

Itemid Al-Matar accuses the officers of violating her civil rights, charging in court documents that her religious garb “was the impetus behind the actions,” of the Chicago police.

Security-camera video from the Chicago train station where the July 4, 2015 arrest took place shows an officer grab Matar as she’s making her way up a staircase with other straphangers.

Al-Matar, 32, was observing Ramadan at the time and was rushing to catch the train so she could make it home to break fast before sunset, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Three more Chicago officers follow behind and the five cops hold Al-Matar down and handcuff her. The suit says the officers pulled off her head scarf and the veil covering her face, called a niqab, and exposed her midriff while she was held down on the stairs to the train station.

Phil Robertson, a lawyer for the Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, and a co-counsel for the lawsuit, called the officers’ actions “blatant xenophobia, Islamophobia, and racial profiling.”

A police report of the arrest says that Chicago police had been on high alert for terrorist activity during the Fourth of July weekend when they spotted Al-Matar exhibiting what they called “suspicious behavior” like walking at “a brisk pace, in a determined manner.”
