Couldn't disagree more with her not being timeless  Her hits from 10 years ago are still as amazing aurally as they were back then. People tend to forget how long Rihanna's been in the industry and how she's still going strong despite the everchanging landscape. She didn't just pop up recently, she's been going on for a long time by pop industry standards and doesn't show any sign of slowing down really  I also think it's quite rude to say that someone will NEVER be something

as a show (and the production of it), i kinda agree with you. The ANTI Tour and The Diamonds World Tour felt flat as for "visual" , in comparison with The Loud Tour, who was far better.

the legend of Beyonce is not her music but it's her "strong woman" attitude..

but every singer is a legend and having an impact in so many areas that it's more than the music.. Music is not the only factor... 

What's the different between Rihanna and Britney? Both are not writing or have any artistic imoact on their music.. The only different is that Rihanna sings live.. So it's another minus for Brit..

Rihanna has proven to have more longevity than Gaga at the moment and is on track to break Madonna's sales records after another two albums. I wouldn't be so quick to downplay her achievements even though she can't sing on the same level as Gaga.

About the OP: I completely disagree. Rihanna has achieved a lot of success, she's perceived as the "coolest girl" among the pop girls, she has a good sense of style, a nice voice, she looks nice. Like it or not, you don't stick around for over 10 years being as relevant as she is for nothing...she's a legend (a word that y'all throw around way to easily, btw) in the making to me.

Well she's already a legend, deal with it. She has made history with the amount of success she has achieved. People are just bitter that she's getting a dumb award (Yes, the VMAs are a damn joke) that Gaga doesn't have.

Rihanna deserves this award because she has released 8 albums in 10-11 years and many of them were big hits. Umbrella, Only Girl, We Found Love and Diamonds are already worldwide recognized singles and people will deal with it.

That's the thing with this and many other fanbases. You can't just be happy about other people because your favorite popstar is not having the same success. Perhaps it's a reflection of our society that you have to see someone fail in order to feel satisfaction ? Who knows.

Britney Spears got this award a couple of years ago and both her and Rihanna are pretty much the same.

In my opinion she is/will be an icon. She sold more than 200 milion records and that's simply enough to be consider as an icon , sure she is not critically acclaimed as an artist or performer and she doesn't have big impact on pop culture but she is well known everywhere and that's more than enough
