DiscoHeaven23 35,007
In the 2015 Billboard year (mid-November 2014 to mid-November 2015) we saw a year that was dominated by Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd. Now in August of 2016, who has been ruling the Billboard 2016 year? The names that stand out are Adele, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Drake. Let’s take a look at why (not listed in any order): Adele 8,920,000 million albums of ’25’ sold. 19 weeks in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Grossed over $76 million already with “Adele Live 2016” tour (49 shows) Rihanna 516,000 albums sold of “ANTI” 31 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 as a LEAD artist Grossed over $47 million already with “ANTI World Tour” (47 shows) Drake 1,415,000 albums sold of “Views” 27 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 as a LEAD artist Justin Bieber 1,765,000 albums sold of “Purpose" 52 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 as a LEAD artist Grossed over $89 million already with “Purpose World Tour” (64 shows) Surprised? OR no?
Poissonche 12,365
Yep. Those four are really dominating the year. Adele less than the others, but still. It's Adele. She's basically ruling the world.
REALITY 77,347
Not particularly surprised, they all did very well. But Gaga will be coming for the charts next. 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔲𝔰𝔦𝔠'𝔰 𝔤𝔬𝔫𝔫𝔞 𝔟𝔯𝔦𝔫𝔤 𝔪𝔢 𝔟𝔞𝔠𝔨 𝔣𝔯𝔬𝔪 𝔡𝔢𝔞𝔱𝔥
weed 74,287
I'm not surprised I almost wouldn't count Adele so much though, she's just early 2016 while the rest have consistently stayed relevant this year
GloZell Green 11,723
Beyoncé 1,301,000 copies sold of Lemonade I think she only spent one week in Top 10 "The Formation World Tour" has grossed $137.3 million from only 25 dates ...She may not have the most impressive Top 10 run, but her massive your gross, pure sales platinum plaque, and the fact that she has the best selling female album released this year make up for that. Mister Gaga 22,946
Not surprised. Beyonce should be there too tho
Iwontell 7,312
Sure, they're selling a lot...but Beyoncé delivered better music, she'll probably collect every award there is and the attention her release got is only comparable to the attention 25's release drew from the media and the public. I think in the long run what Bey did in 2016 will be way more influential than what any of those 4 did... But congrats to them all. ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

A valid point. I'll be interested to see where she places on the Top artist chart at the end of the year. It does include albums, singles and touring. I wonder if she'll place higher or lower than Rihanna. I'm thinking Rihanna's album streams will keep her above Beyonce...as well as her dominance on the singles charts. Billboard counts features too, so "This Is What You Came For" will be added to the charting sum.
Spock 20,290
Taylor Swift still is too apparently Only the biggest popstar on the planet would have people still talking about her so actively on her quiet period between eras Not forgetting her second AOTY win in February who will love me when the night is over

She'll probably end up lower than Rih because she has massive streams for ANTI on Spotify. Lady Gaga | Shakira
