MarryTheKnight 2,181
wow, I was checking britney's album sales, and you can see how an artist inevitably just fades. i think is the fate of all artists, you can't escape it, no matter how big you are. the key is how long can you delay it. obviously artists like madonna and britney have delayed it good, but they eventually get there. cough cough, mdna. here are britney's albums sales, US. http://www.breathehe....php?tid=513529 I hope Gaga could last at least two more albums before she flops into oblivion. also it depends on the quality of music and performances. madonna constantly puts out quality and she is driven and determined to make good music. therefore, all of her albums, except MDNA, have sold millions over 30 years and britney hasnt really been trying for years... im surprised she even came back since her meltdown... tbh i feel gaga has the strength and the drive to release 10+ albums like madonna It's what you do at your peak that makes you a legend or a has-been, but yeah, a peak cannot last forever. do you feel gaga will peak again after TFM? Similarly to how Madonna has had peaks in certain era's?P.S. I feel Katy peaked with Teenage Dream and i doubt she will return to that success. She doesnt have the fanbase to keep her relevant and Britney's stans are the only thing keeping her floating.
Valentino 4
True, she clearly didn't put allot of effort into MDNA and it shows in the lack of sales.

She already re-peaked technically (Hot 100 wise) with Born This Way (single) Culturally? I think she'll explode again with her next single. The break is longer than I expected, and that's a good thing. She has a lot of fuel now to launch another "music event."
MarryTheKnight 2,181
True, she clearly didn't put allot of effort into MDNA and it shows in the lack of sales. yea she has been VERY lazy this era. lets hope the tour makes up for it. already not impressed with the BTW shade She already re-peaked technically (Hot 100 wise) with Born This Way (single) Culturally? Ozzy8923 9
I still think Britney has managed to open herself and expose herself to a new generation. Tons of little kids attended the FFT and sing her songs and I personally believe that if you are going to maintain relevancy in the years to come, then you definitely need to become popular with the youngest of this generation and with FF, I think Britney did that. And, once again, there is the controversial topic among her fans saying that if she had promoted then FF would of sold better, perhaps that is true, perhaps it's not. We really can't tell. If she actually goes through with it, I can't imagine her stans will be pleased. Can you imagine being a stan that hates Gaga and having to watch your idol perform BTW? :deadbanana:

But is that a good thing? Because it could be argued that it shows a lack of growth and maturity in Britney's music. It's really a personal choice for the artist, however. Arturo 40,746
Katy's stanbase is so unstable. They're not as reliable and loyal as monsters, beliebers, directioners, and even lovatics. Having a huge fanbase =/= stable fanbase tbh

MarryTheKnight 2,181
I babysat today and i asked my 6 year old cousins who their favorite singers were and one said Lady Gaga and the other said Justin Bieber. Needless to say the one that said Gaga got an extra scoop of ice-cream :nails:

It's really a personal choice for the artist, however. Well, I think it's a good thing. Connecting with a larger audience is a great thing, after all, an adult and a child can easily like FF, imo. It's themes are s-xual, that is true, but I don't think their so s-xual that a child can't listen to it. In terms of growth and maturity, the only Britney album that I believe TRULY showed musical growth was In the Zone (both with musical direction and theme) and perhaps Blackout (growth in terms of musical direction, but not theme). I don't look for music that is so complicated and deep all the time, so perhaps that's why I tend to fall for Britney's type of music. Something easy to understand and fun to listen to. Then I turn to Gaga when I look for maturity and creativity. I like the best of both worlds. :nacho:

One of my cousins (who is 11) is a huge Katy fan, but told me that she thinks Katy tries too hard to be like Gaga now. I felt so proud. *wipes tear*
