All I could focus on was the fact that Whitney's voice was not the same and the songs were too "ballady" for my liking (I was lost in the electro dance world of Fame Monster-era Gaga at the time!! No time for Whitney ballads, lol)... ...but upon her death (and this R. Kelly performance), the beauty of that song (as well as "I Didn't Know My Own Strength") really came alive for me. "I Look to You" has some of the most simple, yet extremely powerful lyrics I've ever heard. And they tell Whitney's story so perfectly. And they are extremely relatable as well, for any of us who have felt just completely down and out after "giving our all"... So much hope in that song. Sheer genius from R. Kelly.
