Final Opinion on Rise

When I first heard Rise I literally thought it was the worst but it has really grown on me.

Katy did a really good job.  I would be happy if this song went #1. God knows she's had worse songs that have went #1.

Her song writing has improved so much since the cliches of Roar and the nonsensical similes of Dark Horse.

How do you feel about Rise now that it's been out for a few days?

Please don't comment if you blindly hate Katy :gaycat: I understand, I've been there.

I think it sucks just like the rest of her discography

It's not a bad song, but i can't bop to it. So it doesn't get much play from me even though i bought it.

I don't think this will be a #1 song for her. but it'll still go Top 5

It's average but it succeeds where it wants to succeed, and in the end that is how I'll evaluate things. Also, I think Katy's vocal delivery is surprisingly gripping, and I like how it carries the song by itself with minimal back-up from the instrumental :applause:

The production's unadventurous but effective. All in all I think it's a wonderfully written and executed pop track that's enjoyable for a good while.

6/10 for me but that is a great score for a pop song not trying to be something it's not imo. It fulfilled all its goals, and did it well.

It's better than some of the songs that she's done in the past but not it's not amazing either. I'm glad that she's not doing the same types of songs though. \( ̄< ̄)>

I like it. I mean, it's better than several of her past singles. Her voice is nice, the music is good, but I do think it's lacking a bit lyrically. Still, it's not a bad song.

I think her vocals sound great for her standards. And the lyrics have definitely evolved, as you've already mentioned. Though I find the whole "survival", "thriving" and "rising" despite the "life-threatening" adverstities to be overdramatic and quite reminiscent of Muse's last song for the Olympics, but I suppose that's a common pattern.

I like it. :unicorn:

Gotta say i quite enjoyed it today, listening to it with the video. Her singing is very bad though, she has good diction, but the phrasing isn't good and she sometimes the voice has no body, it's too evident in this song. She's just really trying to sing, and that sucks, it also makes the obvious lyrics seem even more mediocre. The production is quite simple, it has it's moments. I like that it sounds just like a Katy Perry song, they sure accomplished that, but it sure needs somthing more than that.

I really dislike the song...the lyrics are fine (it's no "old furry sings the blues", but for today's standards, it's really good) and her voice in it is ok, but the melody is just not beautiful and the production is very uninspired...it's all personal opinion, of course, but I just can't enjoy it.

I have to say, though, props to her for stepping out of her comfort zone a little bit...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.
