I will never understand this

To each their own 😏 Aura's one of my favorite songs she's ever done (top 10 for sure).

Even her commercial songs are very experimental. The only songs I would say are commercial driven of gags discography are just dance, do what you want, guy...

poker face and bad romance are extremely risky and experimental.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

I personally love her Experimental music the best because I dig unique beats, and all of those songs were bops to me

commercial music and its not even close.

Songs like ARTPOP, Aura, etc. aren't welcomed by me. And while u can say that means its basic or un-original its really hard (especially in 2016) to actually make good commercial music that is amazing. gaga is good at that.

EDIT: Judas isn't really experimental, it has the same exact body as bad romance and her signature work w Redone

Judas definitely has some experimental aspects to it. From the theme, to the bridge, Gaga's unconventional growling/singing, and just the whole song overall has a really unique sound. Specially back in 2011.

She's only been experimental when you look at the context of pop music alone and even there her efforts aren't remarkable compared to some of the pop artists who came before her.

All her music is commercial by very definition, or this fanbase would never exist. The secret to her success and status is that she managed to wrap perfectly ordinary pop music up into an avant-garde jacket, and convince her fans they're stanning for a genius who is vastly superior to any of her pop peers (and, consequently, to nearly everyone they're aware of) while they're systematically milked by the same old pop industry tactics, and even become willing accomplices (as journalists noticed especially in 2013).

That's not a dig at her by the way. She admitted as much in her early interviews (excluding the financial arguments of course), and it's actually the reason I fell in love with her, 'cause back then there was a whole other side to her work that explored what she was doing thematically as well. She portrayed the role of sensational pop star and simultaneously commented on pop culture, succeeding artistically as well as financially.

Though fans actually buying into the game never ceases to be annoying :interestinga:

So you don't consider songs like Teeth, Highway Unicorn, Bloody Mary, Americano, Aura, ect. experimental?

It's kind of hard to categorize her songs as either commercial or experimental. Because there's a lot of aspects to a song (lyrics, production, structure). She's good at blurring the line between the two

I think they're adventurous for a pop song, but nearly all of them still rely on the same typical pop strategies, especially in terms of structure, and melodies. To me it doesn't matter how many non-pop jackets a pop song wears, its body is still the same. That's how I think about it. Again, though, I don't expect or even desire Gaga to do something else

That said, Teeth and Americano are among my all-time fav Gaga tracks and I consider them to be head and shoulders above your ordinary pop track :nick:

I mean I think she can very experimental, especially with Born This Way it was head and shoulders above other albums and is undoubtably still the best album of the 2010s.

I love a mix so I'll say both
