Why does Gaga always imitate the style of people that surround her ?

It could tie into the whole "I am every icon" thing. Maybe she hopes it'll make people remember her better if she looks like someone who's more successful or more of a legend than her. I think she means it in the nicest possible way, I don't think she does it because she actually wants to be these people or are jacking their style unfairly. It's a respect thing. I remember when she said that she was originally going to be dressed differently to Beyonce for Video Phone, but she insisted they were dressed the same because it was Beyonce's song and she should attempt to emulate what she does in it (she also had long hair and did the same dance moves). I still think this was such a weird thing of her to say in the end because Gaga's face looks so weird in that video - she looks like a 40 year old who's had too much plastic surgery on her face! She looked a bit drawn and ill as well. If she thought whatever she did to her face was making her look more like Beyonce, well, that was a big diss at her!

I think she's just very impressionable, and it's not necessarily a bad thing. She seems to "tune in" to certain people/events/places and becomes heavily influenced by them before moving on to something else.

It's an homage/tribute to them.

She also wears designers that are native to the countries she visits as a kind of tribute to the country.

It's something I've always really liked about her. She's so gracious.

Her face in videophone was gorgeous in my opinion. She looked really similar in american horror story in the scene with famous "b1tch please" line and I loved it.
